“Stan the Bingo Man” was how the residents of Cedar Crest of Silver Lake knew and loved him. He offered to call Bingo and would come over whenever a caller was needed. Stan would joke around with the residents as the games went on and he would always call that extra game or two or three or more! He would apply nick names to a few including “Brooklyn”, who grew up in the same neighborhood as Stan. They would talk about old familiar places. Stan and Karen would stop in and deliver magazines/tabloids to share with the folks. (The Polish-American Journal was a favorite!) No Veteran was ever forgotten by Stan and the Elks. He would always call and ask. “How many Veterans and what are their names?, and soon overflowing treat bags were delivered personally to each Veteran. There was always conversation and coffee with Karen and Stan. He really enjoyed a good piece of pie, and a hot cup of coffee while sharing a glimpse of childhood antics growing up not only Polish, but “out east.” Stan was a person of many-interests and kind heart. He did go out of his way to give a handshake and pat on the back to someone who needed it. His kindness has brought a smile to many. May God grant Karen and your family peace and comfort during this time of grief and in the coming days. Stan, your good deeds go before you. God Bless Your memory.

I was blessed to know Stanley when I joined the Elks 8 years ago. We became friends quickly — I couldn’t believe how dedicated and proud he was to be an Elk member. He would share such fun stories with me, he soon became like a second Dad to me, offering advice and sharing stories. He will truly be missed. It won’t be the same at a meeting without him.
