Obituary
Steven Frank Frauendienst was born on March 14, 1953, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of John and Helen (Lipke) Frauendienst. Steve was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn, Minnesota. He enjoyed growing up on a farm on the outskirts of New Auburn. It was close enough to town that he could enjoy the benefits of town and country living. Steve graduated from Glencoe High School in 1972. He always spoke fondly of his years growing up around New Auburn. There were lots of stories to tell, including the time he rode into the New Auburn bar on his horse!!
Steve married Janet Tollefson on February 19, 1977. This marriage was blessed with four children, Sara, Kurtis, Sheila, and Tadd, 15 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. On May 22, 2010, Steve married Marsha Schiro. With this union, he was blessed with two more children, Benjamin and Laura, and two grandchildren.
Steve and Marsha enjoyed motorcycling. They took some solo motorcycle trips and several trips with friends. Steve and Marsha rode with the Wednesday Night Motorcycle Group out of Hutchinson and gained several new and close friendships. They also enjoyed traveling, staying at several all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, Dominican Republic, Nashville, the Balloon Fiesta in Albuquerque, the Pacific Northwest, Arizona, Hawaii, and Alaska.
Steve worked for several businesses: namely DFA Creamery in Winthrop, Glencoe Creamery, and Ag Systems in Hutchinson. In his retirement, Steve did part-time work for ACC Medical Transportation and then worked at Stearnswood until his health forced his retirement in 2024.
Steve was diagnosed with metastatic esophageal cancer in December of 2023. He had a very positive attitude about his cancer journey. When talking about his situation, he would often say, “it could always be worse”. Steve wanted to live a long life, but he was not afraid to die. He knew that Jesus prepared a place for him and he lived his life believing that promise.
Steve was a good husband, the love of Marsha’s life. They had many fun times together and were hoping and planning for many more. Steve was a good father and grandfather. He was so loved and his family told him that repeatedly through the years. We are blessed to have had him in our lives. We will miss him and love him forever.
Steve passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by family, in Hassan Township, rural Hutchinson, at the age of 72 years.
Blessed be his memory.
Steve is preceded in death by his Parents, John and Helen Frauendienst; Brother, Lyle Frauendienst; Sister, Joanne Opitz; Father- and Mother-in-law, Wilbert and Helen Becker; Step-daughter, Laura Schiro; Son-in-law, Ed Wurtzberger.

Our sympathy is with you Marsha and family. So we couldn’t make it to either of your visitations or funeral. We had my sister’s visitation at that time . I always enjoyed talking with him when we would bump into him. God’s Blessings.
