Sylvia Jane Olson, age 83, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023, at The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, at 6:00 P.M., at All Saints Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at All Saints Lutheran Church in Norwood Young America.
Celebration of Life will also be held at a later date.
Obituary
Sylvia Jane (West) Olson was born on August 7, 1940, in Fairmount, North Dakota. She was the daughter of Kenneth and Ethel (Rossow) West. Sylvia attended Wilkin County School District 8 through the 7th Grade. She then attended Fairmount Public Schools and graduated from Fairmount High School with the class of 1958.
On May 20, 1959, Sylvia was married to Gerald Bladow. The union was blessed with four boys, George, Douglas, Bradley, and Jason. The couple was married for 19 years and divorced in 1978. In 1979, Sylvia married Dale Olson. They were married for 5 years and divorced in 1984. From 1984 on, she was blessed to have a very good friend in her life, Frederick “Fritz” Karels, until he passed away in 2011.
As a teenager and through her early adulthood she was employed as a cook in numerous restaurants. She later worked at Young America Corp. in Young America, Minnesota. In September of 1987, she began working at Pies Inc., in Chaska, Minnesota, and worked there until her retirement in 2010.
Sylvia enjoyed spending time in the kitchen and baking when she was younger. She looked forward to retirement and spending time with her family and pets. Sylvia cherished the time she spent with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and with her friends.
Sylvia passed away on September 2, 2023, at The Gardens at Winsted in Winsted, Minnesota, at the age of 83. Blessed be her memory.

Great-Grandchildren;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Sylvia is preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Ethel West; Brothers, LaVern West, Dennis West, Gary West, and Donavan West; Grandson, Jason Hubbard; Special Friend, Frederick Karels.
