Obituary

Terrol “Terry” James Ruble was born on April, 17, 1944, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, to parents Ralph and Alma (Bowman) Ruble. Terry was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith as a youth. Terry received his education in Bloomington, Minnesota, graduating from Bloomington High School class of 1963.

Terry served as an active-duty member in the United States Navy from October 1963 until July 1965 aboard the USS Tolovana in the Western Pacific. Terry remained in the Navy Reserve until 1968 when he was honorably discharged. Terry later became a member of the VFW Post 5102 in Glencoe, Minnesota, and American Legion Post 96 in Hutchinson, Minnesota.

Terry was the father to four children: Keith, Carrie, Kenny, and Kelly.

In 1980, Terry bought the Happy Hour Inn in Glencoe. A short time later, he met Karen Reinitz and on November 16, 1985, Terry and Karen were united in marriage. As a family of six they often travelled to Wisconsin to camp at Jellystone Park, and to experience the Dells. The family would often spend the 4th of July holidays with his sister, Carol and her husband, Chuck.

For over 30 years, Terry maintained a love for horses which he shared and passed on to his son, niece, and granddaughter. During this time Terry owned several horses, one mule, and two ponies. He loved watching Westerns and with Karen by his side, they would participate in Old Western reenactment events in the surrounding communities.

After his retirement in 2005, Terry enjoyed keeping his mind and body active with games of cribbage or zilch, fishing, and annual trips to Dead Lake with his family and friends.

Above all, Terry loved his family and friends and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time and visit with them.
Terry and Karen shared a memorable 38 years of marriage until Karen passed on January 14, 2024.

Terry passed away on Sunday, September 22, 2024, at Cokato Manor in Cokato, Minnesota, at the age of 80 years.

I enjoyed working with/for Terry. All though we didn’t see eye to eye once in a while. It was a pleasure knowing him.
