Service Information

Thomas C. Dege, age 74, of rural Litchfield, passed away Friday, July 5, 2018 at his home.

To honor Tom’s wishes, his family will hold a Celebration of Life in the fall at the family cabin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to the family.

Obituary

Dege, Thomas Carl, Age 74 of rural Litchfield, MN. Tom was born 7/12/1943 in St. Paul and passed away 7/6/2018 peacefully at home. Preceded in death by his parents: Carl and Mildred (Toenjes) Dege. He is survived by his wife, Anne (Reiter) Dege; his children, Tim (Marie), Jennifer Dege, Susan (Justin); and grandchildren, Carissa (Erich), Bailey, and Michael; and siblings Nancy (Rick) Gerhard, Linda (Ray) Weber, and John (Pat) Dege; and numerous cousins and friends.

Tom grew up in St. Paul, MN, attended St. Paul Central. He managed many restaurants in Minneapolis and Chicago areas, and upon moving to Meeker County in 1974, he managed several local businesses including the Three Gabled Pub and the Cosmos and Hector Municipal Liquor stores. He retired from HTI in Hutchinson, MN.

Tom was known for his famous oxtail soup and years of instructing dog obedience for Crow River Obedience Club. He enjoyed cooking, league bowling, playing cards, fishing with friends, and time with his family at the cabin on Lake Edwards. An avid reader – he wore out several Meeker County Library cards. He always managed to pull the winning ticket at the Pickle Factory.

    Although we lost touch years ago, I have always had a spot in my heart for Tom. He was a terrific teacher, mentor and friend! I have great memories of Tom and the entire Dege family and he will be dearly missed by many. He was a great guy! My symapathies and love to you all during this difficult time.

    Tom was a St. Paul Central High School classmate and a good friend. I admired him very much. He was a strong and fast football player. My sincerest condolences to all his wonderful family.
