Obituary

Thomas Casey was born August 1, 1943, in Cresco, Iowa, to Ronald and Carol (Gager) Casey.  Thomas was the 2nd born of 8 children.  He resided with his family in Harmony, Minnesota, where he graduated in May of 1961 from High School.  On May 22, 1961, Thomas “Tom” entered the United States Navy serving in the Cuban Missile Crisis, Cuban Blockade.  He was Honorably discharged on July 31, 1964, in New York.

While stationed there he met and married Dorothy Hurd in March 1963. When Tom met Dorothy, she had a little girl named Robin. Together the couple had 3 children of their own, 2 daughters, Penny and Susan, and 1 son, Bill.  The couple divorced in 1970, and Dorothy took the 4 children with her to Texas.

Tom eventually came back to Minneapolis, MN, where he met Beverly Hallstrom.  The couple moved to Lake Jenny where they had 2 daughters, Victoria and Thomasena. In 1979, the family moved to a farm north of Glencoe, MN, where they had 2 sons, Casper and Newton. In 1992, the couple parted and went their separate ways.

He had many jobs during his lifetime as a maintenance man. His last full-time job was at  Landscape Structures Inc. where he retired in 2005, with 20 plus years. He continued to reside on the farm with his 4 children. Tom loved growing his crops and doing 5 different Farmers Markets, weekly for 19 years, with his daughter Thomasena “Tina.” He also made jams, jellies, salsa, pickled veggies, and a variety of creations from his gardens.

Tina, I am so saddened by the loss of your dad. He was such a great guy! I always enjoyed talking to him. He will be deeply missed at the Arlington Farmers Market by all of the vendors and his customers. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
