Obituary

Veirl Glenn Buboltz was born March 1, 1928 to Helmuth and Ella (Berger) Buboltz. He was baptized and confirmed at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township. He attended District 71 Country School, Martinsburg Township and Parochial school in Wellington Township and graduated from Buffalo Lake High School in 1947.

Veirl was united in marriage to LaVonne (Agre) on February 11, 1966. He was a farmer for 42 years, who liked to have a clean, neat farm yard and fields. His true love was to work! He was mechanically minded, an organized planner and kept good records; he was always on time. Veirl was a member of the Farmers Home Administration County Committee (FMHA) Olivia, Renville County, the South Central Co-op Elevator of Board of Directors, and served on the School Board at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Wellington, and also the Board of Elders. He enjoyed traveling, dancing, playing cards and dice, coffee with his buddies, Father’s Day parades with family, using a sharpie to date everything, but his most meaningful accomplishment was to have his children grow up in the Christian faith.

Early Saturday morning, March 31, 2018, Veirl peacefully passed away at the Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, having reached the age of 90 years. Blessed be his memory.

Veirl is survived by his:

Children:  Verlinda (Joel) Plath, of Shoreview, Minnesota,
     Coleen (fiancé Jonathan Blake) Andruss of St. George, Utah,
     Jeffrey (Dawn) Buboltz of Hector, Minnesota,
     Rebecca Johnson of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, and
     Alan (Beth) Walter of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota;

13 Grandchildren: Amanda, Jena, Lindsey, Cody, Kate, Scott, Anna, Sarah, Michael, Joseph, Melissa, Michelle, Erin;

10 Great-Grandchildren: Carter, Harper, Abby, Lydia, Lucia, Chase, Austin, Ethan, Caleb, Levi;

Sisters-in-law, Valoris Buboltz and Betty Buboltz;

and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife LaVonne, sister Iona and husband Henry Gruenhagen, brother Eldon and wife Adeline, brothers Orris, Harris, Harlan, and 2 infant siblings, niece Cindy Buboltz, and son-in-law Todd Johnson.

    Becky, Alan, Verlinda, Coleen and Jeffery: Regrettably I will not be able to attend your fathers funeral on Saturday but oh boy have a flood of memories come as I was reading your fathers Obituary. I do remember that clean yard and fields. I think our family’s fields were so clean because we kids were always out there walking them and picking weeds, right???? Shoot we could practically wave at one another as we were out there working. Picking weeds only out done by picking rocks that grew every winter. And “they” think nothing grows in winter in Minnesota, ha! we know better. Remember biking over to one anothers homes whenever we could. our moms would call each other to say “the kids are on their way” Our Mom would watch for you and watch to be sure Bette and I got over to your home. She had the best view….and oh the play houses and cats and dogs and Alan getting trouble with the girls!! I remember your dads smile, always smiling when I saw him and how he and LaVonne would laugh together. I do remember the Hutch Parades on Fathers Day…those were very fun times and I always looked forward to them. I remember family picnics at your house, Louie and LaVonne always talking about Norwegian food. We still have the Lefse fryer that Vierl and LaVonne gave us for our wedding. And then there was baby Jeffery. We got to hold a BABY whoa, that was pretty special Jeffery!!! Bette and I got to see a lot of things that babys do when you came along!!!
    So much that I remember. It saddens me to hear of Veirls death but can only imagine he and Lavonne reunited and dancing and laughing away!!
    I’m so sorry I cannot come on Saturday I would love to see you but I will be with you in spirit and thinking of you all day. May God bless all of you. I have always thought so much of all you, treasure our years together growing up and the memories we made together. My sympathy and love to all of you…..Laurie and Louie Austvold

      Thank you Blaine and Joleen for your kind words. Our dad still had a sense of humor and was very faithful to many. I will relay this message to Becky. Verlinda

    To all the Buboltz/Walter clan: Our deepest sympathy to you as we remember such a kind, gentle and loving man. Veirl always had a twinkle in his eye and a genuine laugh. He always knew us and made a point of making us feel special (usually through some razzing, which we could quickly give back). I know Mom will miss him at Buffalo Lake Health Care Center, where they would greet each other with “Hey Cuz!” Hugs and peace to you as you celebrate his life and legacy.

      Thank you Jill and Steve for your kind words. That is the man we knew, he was such a faithful man and loved to razz people and visit with people. We will have to visit your mom from time to time because she too is a very special lady. She sure makes me laugh and especially my brother, Jeff. Love, Verlinda

    Dear Jeff, Dawn, Kate, Scott, & Anna,
    Our deepest sympathies on the passing of your dad/grandpa. You are in our thoughts & prayers at this sad yet joyful time – heaven is rejoicing to welcome him home but God also weeps knowing that you are brokenhearted without him. What a blessing to know that our Redeemer lives, so you will all be reunited some day and “so we will be with the Lord forever!”
