Service Information
Verna Heaton, age 75, of Silver Lake, Minnesota, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 27, 2018, 11:00 A.M., at Hunters Ridge Community Church in Hutchinson.
A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Verna Vivian Heaton was born on July 31, 1942, in Jellico, Tennessee. She was the daughter of Franklin “Doc” and Naomi (Randolph) Dowell. Verna was baptized as an infant. She received her education in Richmond, Indiana through grade 10.
In 1964, Verna met James Noel Lenz and his infant son, James John Lenz. They were blessed with one daughter, Naomi Kay on September 10, 1968 in Lexington, Kentucky. Verna and James were united in marriage on May 1, 1972, in Mesquite, Texas. On December 7, 1972, they were blessed with a son, John Adam Lenz II. Later Verna and James moved to Hutchinson, Minnesota where they managed the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Main Street. In 1988, Verna moved to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, to be closer to her family. She later moved back to Hutchinson in 1997.
Verna worked hard all her life in food service and retail. For the last fifteen years, she has resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Naomi and Alan Hopkins, in Silver Lake, Minnesota.
Verna enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, reading, and staying busy with the great grandchildren.
Verna passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 75 years.

9 Great Grandchildren, Carter, Riley, AvaRose, Peyton, Silas, Nevaeha, Gracie, Fayth, and Everleigh;
Many other relatives and friends.
Verna is preceded in death by her Parents, Franklin and Naomi Dowell; Former Spouses, James Lenz and Floyd Heaton; and Brothers, Larry Dowell and Lewis Dowell.

Naomi and Alan and Family, I was so sorry to hear of Verna’s passing. I visited with her at Target not so long ago. She was a really nice, kind, lady. I enjoyed working with her at Mark’s, and I enjoyed being “related” through our golden retrievers. Her family meant so much to her, and she always kept me up to date, whenever our paths crossed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
