Service Information
Vernus Buboltz, age 95, of Fairfax passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, at Southview Living Center in Gibbon.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 17, 2021, 10:00 A.M. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Wellington Township, Renville County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2021, from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
Military Honors by the Fairfax Honor Guard.
Memorials preferred to Emanuel Lutheran Church.
Obituary
Vernus Duwayne Buboltz was born on December 12, 1925, in Martinsburg Township, Renville County, Minnesota. He was the son of Robert and Lillie (Sell) Buboltz. Vernus was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth, both at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township. He received his education at District #54 Country School through the eighth grade.
Vernus entered active military service on January 23, 1945, and served his country during World War II in the United States Army Infantry. He achieved the rank of Mess Sergeant. Vernus was Honorably Discharged on December 1, 1946
On February 24, 1949, Vernus was united in marriage to Violet Peterson at Augustana Lutheran Church in Winthrop. After their marriage, the couple farmed in rural Fairfax, retiring in 2000. This union was blessed with four sons, Steve, Gary, Roger and Brian. Vernus and Violet shared 67 years of marriage when Violet passed away on April 3, 2016.
Vernus was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Wellington Township, rural Fairfax. He served as an Elder and was Chairman of the School Board of the church. Vernus was a member of the American Legion Post #205 and the VFW Post #8459, both in Fairfax.
Vernus enjoyed fishing, dancing, traveling, playing cards, and farming. He cherished the time he spent with his family, especially his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild.

Sons, Steve Buboltz and his wife, Janet of Hermantown, MN,
Gary Buboltz and his wife, Rhonda of Fairfax, MN,
Roger Buboltz and his wife, Patricia of Redwood Falls, MN, and
Brian Buboltz and his wife, Karen of Fairfax, MN;
13 Grandchildren;
27 Great-Grandchildren;
1 Great-Great-Grandchild;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Vernus was preceded in death by his Parents, Robert and Lillie Buboltz; Wife, Violet Buboltz; Brothers, Talford Buboltz, Myron and Edna Buboltz, Orley and Marion Buboltz; Sister, Marilyn and Charles Ahlbrecht; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law, Javain and Dorothy Peterson, Harold and Eunice Woods.
