Vernus Kokesch, age 92, of Hutchinson, passed away Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2018, 10:30 A.M. at Dobratz – Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson, Minnesota with interment at St. George Catholic Cemetery in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 29, 2018, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M., with Parish Prayers at 4:00 P.M. at Dobratz – Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson and will continue 1 ½ hours prior the service on Wednesday at the chapel.
Obituary
Vernus John Kokesch was born on February 25, 1926, in St. George, West Newton Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota. He was the son of Adolph and Myra (Grosam) Kokesch. Vernus was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at St. George Catholic Church in West Newton Township, Nicollet County, Minnesota.
In 1952 Vernus was united in marriage to Eileen Doering. This marriage was blessed with five children, Twins, Marjorie and Michael, Greg, Randy and Nancy. Vernus grew up in Gibbon on the family farm, and then moved to Stewart following his marriage to Eileen, before settling in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Vernus was a lifelong farmer working alongside his dad and his three sons.
He enjoyed collecting John Deere tractors and traveling. He enjoyed his yearly trips to Texas and his daily trips with his special companion, MaryAnn. Together they enjoyed driving to Stewart where the family farm was and also driving around looking at the fields. He cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Vernus passed away peacefully with family by his side on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at Ridgeview Sibley Medical Center in Arlington, Minnesota, at the age of 92 years, 3 months and 1 day.

This came as a shock to me. We lived across the street from Vernus and Mary ann from 2006 to 2013. Vernus had the same birthday as my boy Alex(Feb 25). Really nice guy, we would see them sitting out every day if he could. Loved John Deere, even gave my boy a John Deere tractor. Extremely nice guy he was! So sad to hear this. RIP Vernus my friend!
