Service Information
Wayne L. Ellig, age 68, of Winthrop passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Bayside Manor in Gaylord.
Memorial Service will be Tuesday, June 20, 2023, 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop with interment in the Winthrop Cemetery.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Wayne Lester Ellig was born on July 16, 1954, in Gaylord, Minnesota. He was the son of Lester and Ruth (Unglaub) Ellig. Wayne was baptized as an infant on August 6, 1954, at his parent’s home and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop. He received his education in Winthrop and was a graduate of the Winthrop High School Class of 1972.
Wayne was a lifelong resident of Winthrop. He was employed in assembly at Unidoor Corporation in Gaylord, drove semi-truck and hauled cattle.
Wayne was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Winthrop.
Wayne enjoyed organizing the Ellig family reunions, polka dancing and his cat.
When he needed assistance with his daily care Wayne became a resident of Bayside Manor in Gaylord on January 1, 2022, and passed away there on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the age of 68 years. Blessed be his memory.

Wayne was preceded in death by his Parents, Lester and Ruth Ellig; Grandparents; Cousins, Gary Frauendienst, Linda and Ray Gould.
