William “Bill” Cowell

Obituary

William “Bill” Henry Cowell was born on August 12, 1948, in St. Paul, Minnesota. He was the son of Lyndon and Marjorie (Heidbrink) Cowell. Bill was baptized as an infant at the First Christian Church in St. Paul and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth at the Cherokee Heights Presbyterian Church in St. Paul. He received his education in Mendota Heights and was a graduate of Henry Sibley High School Class of 1966. He furthered his education at the University of Minnesota earning his B.A. in Liberal Arts and then he attended the University of Minnesota Law School, earning his law degree.

On August 18, 1979, Bill was united in marriage to Nancy Carling at the United Church of Christ in Gaylord. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord, where Bill had his law practice. Bill and Nancy were blessed with three children, Alyson, Adrienne and Adam. Bill and Nancy shared 44 years of marriage.

Bill was a member of the United Church of Christ in Gaylord. He was also a member of the Sibley Masonic Lodge #209, the Gaylord Sertoma and was a former member of the Gaylord Rotary.

Bill enjoyed reading and watching all sports, especially his children’s and grandchildren’s. He cherished the time he spent with his family and friends.

When he needed assistance with his care, Bill became a resident of Bayside Manor in Gaylord and passed away there on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the age of 75 years. Blessed be his memory.

Sister-in-law, Roxanne Beasley of Apple Valley, MN;
Brother-in-law, Larry Bergquist and his wife, Linda of Bloomington, MN;
Niece, Jessica Beasley of Portland, OR;
Nephew, Joshua Gamboni and his husband, Kyle of Richfield, MN;
Other relatives and friends.

Bill was preceded in death by his Parents, Lyndon and Marjorie Cowell; Infant Daughter, Adrienne Cowell; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, Bob and Bette Carling.
