Service Information

Zylpha Lillie Eva Mueller (“Girlie” “Zyl”), age 84, of Winthrop, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at Golden Hearts Assisted Living in Arlington, Minnesota.

Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 28, 2020, at 6:30 P.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Bismarck Township, Minnesota.

Memorials preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund in Bismarck Township, Minnesota.

Please bring lawn chairs.

Social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Obituary

Zylpha was born on September 11, 1935, in Winthrop, Minnesota. She was baptized by her grandfather, Pastor Peter Mueller. Zylpha graduated from Winthrop High School at age sixteen and earned a Registered Nursing degree from Kahler/ Methodist School of Nursing. She worked in hospitals, doctor’s offices, and nursing homes in Minnesota, Kansas, Wisconsin, South Dakota, Wyoming and Nevada.

She returned to Winthrop to help care for her parents and be close to family. Zylpha’s interests included cooking, gardening, traveling, family genealogy, rock hunting, collecting coins and fishing; however, she was most famous for her custard and butterscotch pie. It was a special gift she made for family and celebrations.

Zylpha will be remembered for her gift of caring for others during her nursing career and for her large, extended family. She was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Bismarck Township where she was a member of WELCA and Altar Guild. She was an energetic supporter of the renovation of the St. John Lutheran “Schoolhouse” and was a charter member of the Winthrop Community Historical Society.

Zylpha is survived by her:
Siblings, Bertha Pederson of Arlington, MN,
               Marion Carter of Rapid City, SD,
               David Mueller (Darlene) of Winthrop, MN,
               Karen Klenk (Ray) of Winthrop, MN,
               Robert Mueller of Winthrop, MN,
               Michael Mueller (Mary) of Winthrop, MN,
many nieces and nephews, and six godchildren.

Zylpha was proceeded in death by her Parents, Berthold and Silbena (Remus) Mueller; Sister, Victoria Mueller; Brothers-in-law, Melvin Pederson and David Carter.

Memorials may be given to St. John Lutheran Church Cemetery Fund.
