I would be honored to be the first to make a comment. I am Tina Kamrath-Redway, one of Wally Pikal’s nieces. Uncle Wally has always been a part of my life. I will miss him dearly. I have wonderful priceless memories of fun times, support, and love from Uncle Wally and Aunt Alice. One of my favorite memories is learning to Polka when I was seven to the Wally Pikal band. My twin girls who are now fifteen only got to meet him once. They remember playing outside, picking rasberries with Aunt Alice and Uncle Wally playing his music in the garage. My dad was one of Uncle Wally’s best friends. They are now together. My dad had an almost fatal car accident in 1952 and Uncle Wally donated blood to save my dad’s life. Uncle Wally gave me away at my wedding because my dad was already gone. We love you and will miss you, but you will always be in our hearts.

Wally was a good entertainer and a great man . He will be missed by many. I knew him when I was still a child visiting grandpa and grandma yerks. Bought from his music store often. He always remembered me. What a talented man. Rest in peace my friend.

Wally became my friend from afar. Wally knew me when he saw me and, as always had that friendly smile. Because of the many friends he had throughout his life, Wally probably did not remember my name, but that did’s make any difference. Not originally being from the area, I learned to appreciate Wally’s talent and tried to see him when he performed in Litchfield. Wally was ‘one of a kind’. I will pray for you for I know his death will leave a big hole, not only in your family, but in the community that he loved and served through his God given talent and ability.

We were born and raised in the Hutchinson area. We have enjoyed Wally so much for so many years. His smile and wonderful laughter combined with his great sense of humor made every ones day better. Then there was his music!! Old Time music is “Happy Music” anyway and he and his various band members did just that for thousands of people.
When we were young and standing on Main Street in Hutch watching the Water Carnival Parade, the highlight was when one could hear that Wally Pikal and The Dill Pickles were coming down the street on the back of a truck or on a 4 wheel trailer. THE BEST PART OF THE PARADE!!
We live in Oregon now and have for well over thirty years. Each time we got back to Hutch in the summer time we hoped to get to see Wally and the band at the Music In The Park event. We did just that a couple of years ago and had a fun visit with him. He announced that the Band had Fans in attendance all the way from the State of Oregon. Then laughed like crazy, just like Wally always did. Wally did not need another name as everyone knew who Wally was.
Thank you Wally for making the world a better place. You certainly did your job. Your Family and Fans miss you so much. With Love…

It was a very sad day when I read that Wally had left us. Wally was a very big part of the annual Antique
Car Run that stopped in Kingston every summer. Everyone waited for Wally to arrive, with his van full of instruments
and speakers. He was always the center of attraction, as folks came to Kingston to watch the car run, and listen
to Wally all forenoon. The Lions members were always there to help him unload, and place all his musical
equipment on Dan Johnson’s trailer. Wally will really be missed by everyone, especially the Kingston Lions.

I was trying to be sparing of words when I put this image together.
Of course, he normally would already be hopping around on the Pogo Stick before he began to play.

The next noticable structure to the South of that is the “Grand Stand”. Immediately to the West of the Google Maps Target is the “Commercial Building” which often serves as the convention center  of the Fairgrounds.
