Adela Anna Lucht

Obituary

Adela Anna (Stoeckmann) Lucht was born on January 15, 1915, in Hamburg, Minnesota.  She was the daughter of Ernst and Maria (Proehl) Stoeckmann.  Adela was baptized as an infant on January 24, 1915, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 24, 1929, both by Rev. Heinrich Bouman at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota.  She received her education in Hamburg, Minnesota.

On October 27, 1946, Adela was united in marriage to Elmer Lucht by Rev. Wohlfeil at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota.  Adela and Elmer made their home in Glencoe, Minnesota.  Their marriage was blessed with three children, Roger, Sharlyn and Janice.  Adela and Elmer shared over 52 years of marriage until Elmer passed away on January 14, 1999. 

Adela started working on farms, cleaning and babysitting when she was 10 years old.  During WWII, she worked at University Farms (now U of M St. Paul Campus) serving sailors meals until she became employed at the St. Paul Ford Plant.  There Adela was a Rosy Riveter making airplane parts for WWII.  She also worked at Lindy’s restaurant and Green Giant in Glencoe, Fingerhut in Gaylord and in 1965, at Telex Corporation in Glencoe, where she retired.  Adela was a member at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe, active in Ladies and Altar Guild.  She was also a member of the Senior Citizens Club and various card clubs.

Adela enjoyed traveling in the United States, took pleasure in her gardening, dancing, music, playing cards, bingo and word puzzles.  She loved to visit with everyone though talking with her sisters happened often.

Adela passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at Grand Meadows in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 101 years, 4 months and 14 days.

Adela is preceded in death by her Parents, Ernst and Maria Stoeckmann; Husband, Elmer Lucht; Daughter, Sharlyn Adela Lucht; Siblings, Hulda Kohls, Laura Engelke, Ernie Stoeckmann.
