Adeline Harpel, age 89, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Services Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2017, 10:00 A.M. at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment following at the Glencoe Catholic Cemetery in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 13, 2017, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota. Rosary will be at 6:30 P.M. and Parish Prayers at 7:30 P.M. Visitation will continue on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, from 8:30-9:30 A.M. at the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel.
Obituary
Adeline Ella (Forster) (Hoffmann) Harpel was born on March 6, 1927, in Comfrey Minnesota, at her farm home. She was the 7th child born to Joseph and Sophie (Reiderer) Forster. Adeline was baptized as an infant on March 13, 1927, by Rev. F. J. Plaschko at the Church of the Japanese Martyrs in Leavenworth, Minnesota. The family later moved to Sleepy Eye, Minnesota, where Adeline received confirmation and education at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and School.
On September 3, 1946, Adeline was united in marriage to Arthur Hoffmann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. Adeline and Arthur made their home on their farm in Clements, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Sandra, Peggy, Steven, Marilyn and Joseph. Adeline and Arthur shared over 26 years of marriage, until Arthur passed away on June 14, 1973. On December 6, 1980, Adeline was united in marriage to William Harpel at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota. Adeline and William made their home in Glencoe. They shared over 25 years of marriage together, until William passed away on December 30, 2005.
Adeline helped on the family farm in Clements, Minnesota. The family moved from the farm in 1963. They owned and operated Park Ridge Resort on Lake Miltona. In 1965, they moved to Glencoe. Adeline worked at Telex, Nature Fresh, Green Giant and Glenhaven Nursing Home. She was a member at Church of St. Pius X in Glencoe, Minnesota. Adeline was also a member of the Glencoe VFW Auxiliary Post #5102.
Adeline loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved vacations to Alexandria in the summer and fall vacations to the North Shore Drive along Lake Superior. Adeline enjoyed Monday morning coffee with friends and volunteer work at the nursing home sewing on at that time name labels. She also enjoyed flowers, bird watching and animals, especially her cat, Lily. Adeline made several trips to Las Vegas, Jackpot Junction and enjoyed social time with her friends and family at the VFW. She was faithful to her church and always had time to discuss problems, console and help family and friends. Adeline was the fun Grandma. She will be sadly missed by all.
Adeline passed away on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Glencoe Regional Health Service Long Term Care in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 89 years, 11 months and 26 days.

Adeline is preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Sophie Forster; Husbands, Arthur Hoffmann, William Harpel; Son, Joseph Hoffmann; Son-In-Law, Wayne Olson; Brothers; Sisters.

Adeline always would have a smile on her face, even if it was “A Long Day”. It was a pleasure to see her enjoy the Old Time Music as her feet would be tapping away with her appreciation of music. A very sweet lady whom I will always remember. VN.
