Service Information
Albin Plath, age 95, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 15, 2017, at 2:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in the Peace Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 15, 2017, one hour prior to the service ALL AT THE CHURCH.
Obituary
Albin John Plath was born on March 8, 1922, in Lynn Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of George and Emma (Schmidt) Plath. Albin was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth both at Zion Lutheran Church in Lynn Township. He received his education at District 20 in Lynn Township and later received an Honorary Diploma from the American Legion.
Albin entered active military service in the United States Army on October 29, 1942, at Fort Snelling in Minnesota and served his country during World War II. He received an Honorable Discharge on November 1, 1945, at Camp McCoy in Wisconsin. Albin earned an Asiatic-Pacific Theater Service Medal, Philippines Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, five overseas service bars, and a good conduct medal.
On October 29, 1948, Albin was united in marriage to Dorothy Hoff (Schramm) at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Glencoe, Minnesota by Reverend Robert Happel. Albin and Dorothy resided in Hutchinson, Minnesota. They shared 65 years of marriage until Dorothy passed away on January 28, 2014.
Albin was employed as a net maker at Minnesota DNR Fisheries for 40 years. Albin was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He was also a member of the VFW Post 906 in Hutchinson, The American Legion Post 96 in Hutchinson, Cedar Mills Rod and Gun Club, and the Heatwole Threshing Association in rural Hutchinson.
Albin enjoyed being a Grandpa the most. He loved playing cards with the Boys, hunting, fishing, and baking chocolate chip cookies. He also enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins Baseball Team. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends.
When Albin needed assistance with his daily care, he became a resident at Harmony River Living Center on October 12, 2015. He passed away there on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at the age of 95 years.

Great-Grandchildren, Mariah Sue McCloud and her fiancé, Alex, Gavin Scott McCloud, and Eli Joe Sladek;
Brother, David Plath and his wife, Delores of Hutchinson, MN;
Pet Parakeet, “Pretty Bird”;
Many other relatives and friends.
Albin is preceded in death by his Parents, George and Emma Plath; Wife, Dorothy Plath; and Siblings, Edwin (Lyla and Mae), Benhard (Martha), Harlow (Rosella), Rueben (Lida), Sofie Schroeder (Herman), Hugo (Ella, Buena, and Florence), Delbert (Leona and Naomi), George (Ruby), Donald (Adeline), Erna Schroeder (Ernest), Rosella Kohls (Martin), Arnold (Frances), and Edna Klitzke (Louis).
