Service Information
Alice Anna Deno, age 92, of Gaylord passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024, at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, Minnesota, with all her family by her side.
Funeral Service will be Monday, January 6, 2025, 11:00 A.M. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Arlington Township, Sibley County, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 5, 2025, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Obituary
Alice Anna Deno was born on April 2, 1932, in Dryden Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herman and Mabel (Hene) Otto. Alice was baptized as an infant on April 24, 1932, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1946, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Gaylord. She received her education at Immanuel Lutheran School in Gaylord.
On February 2, 1953, Alice was united in marriage to Anthony Deno at St. John’s Lutheran Parsonage in Arlington Township, Sibley County, Minnesota. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Dryden Township. Alice and Anthony were blessed with seven children, Judy, Duane, Glen, Susan, Patsy, Karen and Tom. She was employed at Big Stone Canning Factory in Arlington and Crystal Foods in Gaylord, retiring in 1997. They shared 71 years of marriage.
Alice was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Arlington Township, the Arlington VFW Auxiliary #6031, (former New Auburn Auxiliary #7266), and the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Auxiliary #433 in Gaylord.
Blessed be her beautiful memory. She was a kind caring person, loved her children and always set her husband straight. She was always friendly and was well spirited with a big heart.

Alice was preceded in death by her Parents, Herman and Mabel Otto; Daughter, Patsy Deno in infancy; Sons-in-law, James Koester and James Eilrich; Brother and Sister-in-law, Marvin and Lydia Otto; Brother-in-law, Floyd Bernstein.

My Grandpa Halbert Becker and Alice were first cousins. Several years ago my dad and I went to visit with Alice, and she was kind enough to share some pictures and stories of the Otto family, all of which are treasured in my family research. Prayers to her family during this time.

We have only just found out about Alice passing away. We will surely miss this wonderful soul. God gave us great neighbors when we moved in across the road almost 30 years ago. She will be in God’s glory now.
