Obituary
Alice Cora (Schauer) Ondrachek was born on December 1, 1920, in Green Isle, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Adolph and Anna (Brelje) Schauer. Alice was baptized as an infant at home on December 26, 1920, by Pastor Karl Reuter and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 14, 1935, at Zion Lutheran Church in Green Isle, Minnesota, by Pastor Karl Reuter. She received her education at the Arlington Country School thru the 8th grade.
On March 2, 1944, Alice was united in marriage to Alvin Ondrachek by Reverend Tibbetts at the parsonage. They made their home on Alvin’s family farm remaining there until 2006. This union was blessed with two sons, Darrell and Ronald. Alice and Alvin shared 65 years of marriage when Alvin passed away on March 24, 2009.
Alice was not only a loving wife, mother, and homemaker, she was also employed at Green Giant in Glencoe, Minnesota. She worked there for many, many years, and retired at the age of 75. Alice also helped Alvin on the farm; feeding all the animals, milking cows, and helping with fieldwork. Needless to say, she was a very active lady. Alice was a long-time member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe.
Alice enjoyed caring for her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen canning vegetables and baking, and she was best known for her raisin apple strudel and her amazing sugar cookies. Alice was an avid reader and read a book a day until she was 102, loved puzzles and solitaire. She cherished the time she spent with her family, her grandchildren, and her great-grandchildren.
When she needed assistance with her care, Alice became a resident of GlenFields Living With Care in Glencoe and passed away there on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 103 years, 4 months, 18 days. Blessed be her memory.
