Service Information

Alice M. Otto, age 88, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Anastasia Catholic Church with interment in St. Anastasia Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9:30-11:00 A.M., one and a half hours prior to the service at the church.

Obituary

Alice Margaret Otto was born on February 2, 1931, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Margaret (McRaith) McCormick. She was baptized as an infant and confirmed in the Catholic faith, both at St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson. She received her education in Hutchinson and was a graduate of Hutchinson High School class of 1949.

On February 26, 1954, Alice was united in marriage to Helmer Otto at St. James Cathedral in Seattle, Washington. This marriage was blessed with two children, Mary and Kevin. Alice and Helmer resided in Seattle, Washington, until they moved back to Hutchinson in 1962. Alice and Helmer shared 55 years of marriage until the passing of Helmer on April 18, 2009.

Alice was employed as a secretary in Renton, Washington until she retired in 1959. She was a member of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Hutchinson.

Alice enjoyed going out for dinner and spending time with her family. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Her favorite trips were to Las Vegas, Nevada, with her husband, Helmer.

Alice passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at Hutchinson Health in Hutchinson, at the age of 88 years.

Daughter, Mary Meyers and her friend, Tom Gruidl of Morristown, MN;
Son, Kevin Otto and his wife, Kathy, of Westminster, CA;
Grandchildren, Jacob Meyers and his wife, Amber; Scott Meyers and his wife, Alana, Jennifer Mittelstadt and her husband, Troy, Cassie Otto and her friend, Paul;
Great-Grandchildren, Jillian Meyers, Jacen Meyers, Graham Meyers, Owen Meyers, Peyton Meyers, Maclan Meyers, Paisleigh  Mittelstadt;
Sisters, Beth Schmidt of Des Plains, IL,
              Ann Gamber and her husband, Peter, of Evanston, IL;
Brothers, John McCormick and his wife, Helen, of Wayzata, MN,
                 Jerry McCormick and his wife, Katie, of St. Paul, MN,
                 Emmett McCormick and his wife, Marge, of Hutchinson, MN,
                 Greg McCormick and his wife, Sandy, of Hutchinson, MN;
Sisters-In-Law, Eileen McCormick of Hutchinson, MN,
                             Shirley Otto of Hutchinson, MN,
                             Lyla Veenhius of Isle, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.

Alice was preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph, and Mary McCormick; Husband, Helmer Otto; Siblings, Richard McCormick and his wife, Karen, Edward McCormick, Mary Leith and her husband, Del, Elaine Wray and her husband, Frank; Nephew, Michael McCormick; Niece, Baby Shannon McCormick;  Brother-In-Law, Dick Schmidt; Son-In-Law, Bill Meyers.

    Rest In Peace Allie!! I loved playing 500 in the card club many years ago with Allie & Helmer. Allie was a wonderful woman who enjoyed life and a glass of wine!!

    Ali was a caller for my MOW Team even before I became captain many yrs. ago. She was very reliable as she gave the drivers a friendly reminder everyday! She was a special lady and will be missed. My sympathies to you.
