Service Information
Alice S. Groehler, age 89, of Winthrop, Minnesota, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 6, 2017, at her home in Winthrop.
Funeral Service will be Wednesday, October 11, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop. Interment will be in The Winthrop Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, October 10, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. and will continue one hour prior to the service all at the church.
Obituary
Alice Selma (Luepke) Groehler was born on May 4, 1928, in rural Courtland, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Frank and Selma (Rodewald) Luepke. Alice was baptized as an infant on May 13, 1928, and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, both at Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland. She received her education at District 59 in Brighton Township, near Courtland. She valued education for herself and for her family.
On July 26, 1949, Alice was united in marriage to Delmar Groehler at the Courtland Evangelical Lutheran Church in Courtland. After their marriage, the couple farmed in rural Winthrop. Alice moved into Winthrop in 1991. Alice and Delmar were blessed with four children. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Alice was employed as a home health aide and a Head Start Aide. They shared 37 years of marriage before Delmar passed away on March 11, 1987.
Alice was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Winthrop, where she was actively involved in church choir, Ladies Guild and Prison Ministry. Alice was very strong in her faith and was honored to be a sponsor for a number of people.
Alice enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, baking bread, playing cards, dancing, and making baptismal banners. She cherished the time she spent visiting and caring for her family.
Alice passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, October 6, 2017, at her home in Winthrop, at the age of 89 years. She will be greatly missed.

Daughter, Renee Pohl and her husband, Randy of Waconia, MN, and their children, Ryan Pohl and his wife, Jenny of Corcoran, MN, and their children, Alexis and Kate Pohl; Landon Pohl and his wife, Jyll of Corcoran, MN, and their children, Jaxen and Wesley Pohl; Daniel Pohl and his wife, Holli of Mayer, MN, and their children, Hazel and Jolene Pohl;
Son, Loren Groehler and his wife, Jean of Winthrop, MN, and their children, Ashlie Erdmann and her husband, Bryn of Delano, MN, and their children, Kaylie, Chase, Easton, Myles Erdmann; Dustin Groehler and his wife, Jenn of Sun Prairie, WI, and their children, Levi and Nolan Groehler;
Sibling, Harold Luepke;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.
Alice was preceded in death by her Parents, Frank and Selma Luepke; Husband, Delmar Groehler; Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Raymond and Rose Groehler; Siblings, Edna Bode, Ray Luepke, Verna Bode, Ardella Maas, and Hildegard Luepke.
