Obituary
Andrea “Andy” Kay Koenig (Bloedow), passed away on November 28, 2023, at her home in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 76. She was the daughter of Ivan and MaryAnn Bloedow of Redwood Falls, Minnesota. Andrea was born on December 29, 1946, in Springfield, Minnesota. Andy was a proud member of the national Honors Society and graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1964. She graduated from Mankato Commercial College and began her career at the University of Minnesota, as a medical secretary.
Peter Kasal, a friend of Arnie’s, introduced Andy to Arnie. They dated for one year and were married at St. Francis Cabrini Catholic Church in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on March 11, 1967. After they were married, they moved to Arnie’s father’s farm north of Stewart, Minnesota, where they raised three children, Paul, Michael, and David. They were blessed with seven grandchildren, Christian, Serena, Cecelia, Katelyn, Kalvin, Nelson and Josie.
In 1967, Arnie and Andy joined Christ The King Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, where their three children were baptized and confirmed. They later joined River of Hope Lutheran Church, where Andrea continued her involvement in church activities. She participated in church council and was a mentor to Confirmation Students. Andy loved to greet people at church and was very talented at remembering each person’s name. She loved to serve communion at church, to shut-ins, and visiting people in their homes and the nursing home. She really enjoyed being a board member for Common Cup Ministries for several years. Andy was part of one of the first Support Groups for Diabetes and active in Grief Support Groups. She was well known to write personal messages to every sick person she knew or those suffering a loss of a loved one. Andy loved gardening and had a gift for making beautiful flower arrangements. Andy worked at Carr Flowers at the Hutchinson Mall for 15 years.
Andrea was a loving and devoted wife, always putting her husband, Arnie, first. Arnie and Andy enjoyed 57 years of devoted love. She will be forever missed.
