Obituary
Anecia (Parker) Langenbau was born on October 24, 1940, in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Helen (Turnquist) Parker. Nissy was baptized July 10th 1955 at the Pleasant Hill Church in rural Pequot Lakes and later confirmed in her faith as a youth. She received her education in the Nisswa Country School, Brainerd, and was a graduate of the Pine River High School Class of 1960.
On June 4, 1960, Nissy was united in marriage to August Langenbau. This marriage was blessed with five children, Robert, Susan, Cindy, Joe, and Jean. Nissy and August resided in rural Pequot Lakes for a few months, moved to Clara City, Minnesota, then rural Montevideo, Minnesota, and later moved to rural Stewart, Minnesota, in 1964. They shared 48 years of marriage until the passing of August on September 2, 2008.
She was a devoted member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where she also shared her faith by teaching Sunday school and was a member of the Women of St. Pauls Church. She was also a proud member of Stewart American Legion Auxiliary Post 125. She worked for over 25 years for McLeod County social services helping seniors in their homes.
Nissy lovingly cared for nearly 100 neighborhood children over the years. She found great joy in children, whether her own or those in the neighborhood and you could often catch her teaching them to bake bread and cookies. One of her favorite gifts to give was butter butter!! (If you know you know) In her free time, she enjoyed tending to her vegetable garden from which she sold cucumbers to Gedney Pickle Factory for nearly 20 years. She loved playing cards, and spending time with family and friends.
The last 5 years she lived in Hutchinson at the Ecumen Pines, where she made many new friends. She enjoyed playing cards, games and all the outings. From her apartment she could see the pond and would always count all the ducks and geese. Mom had a fascination with numbers. If you looked at her calendar you could see how many cookies she baked, buns that a recipe made, how many apple pies she made in a day, how many cucumbers fit in a jar, even after the baking stopped, she marked her ice cream cover with how many servings she could get out of the container. So, in honor of Mom and her counting, she was 31,248 days old or 1026 months and 20 days or 85 years 6 months and 20 days. AND SHE LIVED THEM ALL TO THE FULLEST.
Her ever so strong HUGS will be missed.

When I first met Nissy, it was my first day at church in Stewart, MN. She asked me what my name was and said, you’re new here and I said Yes I am Ma’am! She said, I’m Nissy, but when they see me coming, they say oh, oh, here comes trouble! I giggled and said that’s what they say back home where I grew up! She then said them we will get along just fine! She was always smiling and pleasant each time I seen her and sat in on our Bible class with some our women once a month! I was struck with emotions and shock when I heard of her passing! My deepest sympathy in her family! Losing a mother, grandmother and someone as spicy as Nissy will be extremely hard, but I’m sure at the side of Our Father & our Jesus she will be watching over her family and friends! You might hear her whisper to you in the days ahead and I pray that you hear it! May Cindy be touched by God with Jesus healing hands in good God’s time! Be patient as it will happen in Jesus name! My prayers will continue for her family and friends that will miss her smile and antics! Remember not how she left you, but All the Happy times you had together and the more you share that with others she will be in your lives forevermore! In Jesus Name Peace, Love, Grace and Sweet Memories fill your homes always!AMEN!

Nissy was a neighbor to my Aunt Pearl at the Pines. Always enjoyed our visits, her laugh, and firm hand shakes! I later found out that she was the aunt of a friend of ours (Steve L). It is a small world. May the Lord give you comfort and peace in the days ahead.
