Service Information
Ardell M. Novotny, age 96, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Haven Homes Senior Health and Living in Maple Plain, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2024, 12:30 P.M., at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, with interment in Oakland Cemetery in Hutchinson.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Ardell Martha Novotny was born on April 10, 1927, in East Lake Lillian Township, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Otto and Yetive (Vernon) Hackbarth. While Ardell was an infant, her parents moved to Brookfield Township, Minnesota. She was baptized as an infant on May 8, 1927, and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 21, 1940, both at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township. Ardell received her education in country school through the eighth grade.
On September 12, 1946, Ardell was united in marriage to Joseph Novotny in Brookfield Township. This marriage was blessed with two children, Nancy and Ronnie. Ardell and Joseph resided on the farm in rural Hector, Minnesota, for seven years and then moved to rural Hutchinson, Minnesota, in 1954. In 1966, they made their home in town. They shared 37 years of marriage until Joseph passed away on November 13, 1983. Ardell continued to live in their home until moving into Birchwood House Assisted Living in Hutchinson. When the facility closed, she moved to Haven Homes Senior Health and Living in Maple Plain, Minnesota.
Ardell loved to help Joseph on the farm and take care of the children. She was also employed at the powder milk plant in Hutchinson for a few years as well as frequently babysat for her neighbors for many years. Ardell was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.
Ardell enjoyed visiting with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ardell passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at Haven Homes Senior Health and Living in Maple Plain, at the age of 96 years.

Sisters, Helen Vaughn of Hopkins, MN,

many other relatives and friends.
Ardell is preceded in death by her Parents, Otto and Yetive Hackbarth; Husband, Joseph Novotny; Son, Ronnie Novotny, son-in-infancy; Siblings, Lewis Hackbarth, Otto Hackbarth, Herbert Hackbarth, Clifford Hackbarth, Betty Nelson, Sadonia Hagstrom, Irene Eschenbacher; Son-in-law, Ken Litchfield.

Ardell was our families babysitter for at least 7-8 years. So dependable, the kids loved her and so did Dick and I. She’s back with Joe after such a long time apart. Our sympathies go out to all of you.
