Service Information
Arlene Wagner, age 88, of rural Stewart, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, April 28, 2019, at her home.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, May 3, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, with interment following in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday beginning at 10:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, for one hour prior to the service.
Obituary
Arlene Anna Wagner was born a twin on January 24, 1931, at her parents’ home in Collins Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Fred and Alma (Streich) Rannow. Arlene was not expected to live through the night. Their Pastor was called, and she was baptized that evening. Arlene was later confirmed in her faith at Zion Lutheran Church in West Lynn Township. Arlene grew up in Collins Township, and graduated from the Hutchinson High School.
On June 1, 1952, Arlene was united in marriage to Earl Roy Wagner at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson by Pastor Arthur Koehler. They made their home in Preston Lake Township. Arlene and Earl farmed together, and enjoyed raising sheep and chickens. They were preparing to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary when Earl passed away on May 13, 2017. Arlene continued living on their farm.
Prior to their marriage, Arlene worked at the Triple D Café in Hutchinson. Following their marriage, she worked part time for Green Giant, and also at Ma’s Café in Stewart. Arlene stayed busy on the farm, too. She was known for her canned pickles and horseradish, all goodness from her beautiful garden. She was also a great cook.
Arlene was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart. She taught release time from 1962 to 2004. She was active with W.E.L.C.A, and was involved with the quilting group. Arlene was President of the AAL/Thrivent Branch 5929 for many years, and received many Gold Stars for the group. She participated with Home Extension, and was a dedicated volunteer for Food for Kidz, Feeding Children International based in Stewart.
On Sunday, April 28, 2019, Arlene passed away at her home, having reached the age of 88 years. Blessed be her memory.
Arlene is survived by her:
Sisters, Darlene Strohschein of Howard Lake and Hildegard Wagner of Hutchinson;
many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her Parents, Fred and Alma Rannow; Husband, Earl Wagner; Brothers-in-law, Lester Strohschein and Myrle Wagner.
