Service Information
Arlene Marohn, age 98, of West St. Paul, formerly of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018, at Brookdale Senior Living in West St. Paul, Minnesota.
Memorial Services will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018, 12:00 P.M. at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson with interment in Peace Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018, one hour prior to the service at the church.
Arrangements are with the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel.
Obituary
Arlene Deloris Plath Marohn was born on October 1, 1919, in Svea, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Ralph and Maymi (Westerberg) Tatting. Arlene was baptized as an infant at Svea Lutheran Church in 1919 and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth at First Lutheran Church by Rev. Burgstrand in July of 1931. She received her education in Lake Lillian, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1937.
On September 28, 1938, Arlene was united in marriage to Raymond F. Plath at the bride’s home in Silver Lake, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with two children, Allan and Lynn. Arlene and Raymond moved several times during their marriage ending up in Hutchinson where they owned and operated the Riverside Café and Hutch Café. They shared 48 years of marriage together until Raymond passed away on November 5, 1986.
On April 9, 1988, Arlene was united in marriage to Ruben Marohn at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. The couple spent much time traveling to Arizona and traveling to Alaska nine times in their motor home. They moved to Breezy Point, Minnesota in August of 1997. Arlene and Ruben shared 15 years of marriage together until Ruben passed away on May 1, 2003. Arlene then moved back to Hutchinson in June of 2003.
Arlene was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson for many years belonging to the Dorcus Club, singing in the Church Choir, and playing in the Bell Choir. She was also involved in Missions sewing at Peace Lutheran Church.
Arlene was an accomplished keyboard player. She often delighted the family with her renditions of religious work. One of Arlene’s better known skills was baking delicious sweet rolls and is particularly remembered for the caramel rolls that so many people enjoyed at the Café while she and Raymond owned the restaurant. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren and friends.
On January 27, 2014, Arlene moved to West St. Paul to be near her nephew, Patrick Halonen, and became a resident of Brookdale Senior Living. Arlene passed away there on Monday, January 22, 2018, at the age of 98 years. Blessed be her memory.

Step Granddaughter, Lexi Marohn;
Sister, Norm Totushek;
Nieces and Nephews, Robb (Mary) Totushek, Ross (Linda) Totushek, and Gary (Donna) Tatting;
Many other relatives and friends.
Arlene is preceded in death by her Parents, Ralph and Maymi Tatting; First Spouse, Raymond Plath; and Second Spouse, Ruben Marohn.
