Obituary
When we read the obituary of a child of God, we should not only hear a summary of their life, we should also hear how God was at work in their life. In studying the Scriptures as they are outlined in Luther’s Small Catechism, we have learned to look at God’s work in our lives and His rule over us in terms of three kingdoms: God’s kingdom of power, God’s kingdom of grace, and God’s kingdom of glory. God’s kingdom of power is the world into which we are born and in which we live. God’s kingdom of grace is the Christian Church into which we are reborn by Baptism and in which we believe and serve God with the gifts of the Holy Spirit. God’s kingdom of Glory is heaven, into which we are taken by death that we may live with God and praise Him forever.
Aurelia Laurine Werth was born on April 2, 1924, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Christ and Marie (Thiesfeld) Hanson. Aurelia was baptized as an infant on April 20, 1924, by Rev. E. Kolbe and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 21, 1937, by Rev. Alf. Streufert both at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe. She received her education in Glencoe and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School Class of 1941.
On September 27, 1942, Aurelia was united in marriage to Fred E. Werth at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by Reverend Alf. Streufert. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Helen Township. She was employed at Ben Franklin, Coast-To-Coast, Telex, Garden Center and Seneca in Glencoe, retiring in 1998. She volunteered at the Hospital Gift Shop. Aurelia and Fred were blessed with five sons. They shared 33 years of marriage before Fred passed away on June 2, 1976.
Aurelia was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, and was involved with LWML, the Altar Guild and the Bell Choir.
Aurelia was a hard worker. She enjoyed bowling, fishing, camping, playing cards with friends and playing games with her grandchildren. Aurelia loved baking and her specialty was apple bars and tea cakes that she sent to the grandkids in the military. She always cherished the memories she had of her short life with her husband, which included farming, raising five boys, fishing trip and camping.
