Barbara J. Ulrich, age 85, of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center.
Public Drive-Thru Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020, from 9:00-11:00 A.M. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Buffalo Lake, Minnesota.
Public Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2020, at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery.
Obituary
Barbara “Barb” Jean Ulrich was born on October 1, 1934, in Stewart, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Nels and Erma (Koopman) Nelson. Barb was baptized as an infant in Hutchinson and later confirmed in her faith as a youth at Calvary Lutheran Church in Mora, Minnesota. The family resided in Stewart, Minnesota, moved to New Ulm, Minnesota, returned to Stewart, then to Ogilvie, where she attended Fish Lake Country School. They later moved to Buffalo Lake. Barbara was a graduate of the Buffalo Lake High School Class of 1952. Barb furthered her education at Union Hospital in New Ulm, earning her degree as a Licensed Nurse Practitioner. She was then employed as a nurse for the Granite Falls Hospital for two years.
On October 20, 1956, Barb was united in marriage to Alvin E. Ulrich at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake. This marriage was blessed with three children, Timothy, Julie, and Jeffrey. Barb and Al resided in Buffalo Lake and Hector, prior to returning to Buffalo Lake. They shared 63 years of marriage.
Barb was a loving homemaker, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was also a secretary for the family insurance business.
She enjoyed quilting, scrapbooking, Guthrie, birthday clubs, traveling, spending time with her grandkids, family, and friends. Barb was also a Sunday school teacher at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and very active in the women’s church group. She was a member of the Red Hat Society.
Barb passed away on Friday, June 5, 2020, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center, at the age of 85 years. Blessed be her memory.

Grandchildren, Benjamin Ulrich and his wife, Becky, Travis Ulrich, Nicole (Ulrich) Glaze and her husband, Brandon, Heather (Meier) Brewers and her husband, Darrin, Heidi (Meier) Lagred and her husband, Zachary, Kyle Meier and his wife, Brody, Zachary Ulrich, Tucker Ulrich, and Mya Ulrich;
9 Great-Grandchildren;
Sister, Darleen Williams of Grand Rapids, MN;
Sisters-in-law, Marlys Olson of Le Sueur, MN,
Rosie Nelson of Hutchinson, MN;

Barb is preceded in death by her Parents, Nels and Erma Nelson; Step-father, Leonard Hakes; Siblings, Merle Nelson and his wife, Ruth, Darrell Nelson, Cyril Nelson, Carroll Nelson, Dorothy Rose, and Violet Helget and her husband, Harvey; Nephews, Mark Nelson, Jim Wade; Great-Nieces, Lisa Nelson Shedore, Laurie Wade; Step-niece, Deann Garrett; Brothers-in-law, Howard Williams, Gene Olson; Step-siblings, Lenora Rasmussen and her husband, Bill, Ruth Stevens and her husband, Ed, and Stanley Hakes.
