Bernard “Bernie” Mansager, age 73, of Glencoe, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Memorial Services will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, with interment at a later date in the Elm Creek Cemetery in Trimont, Minnesota.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016, from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., one hour prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Bernard “Bernie” LeRoy Mansager was born on March 4, 1943, in Fairmont, Minnesota. He was the son of Bernard O. and Faye (McLellan) Mansager. Bernie was baptized on September 17, 1950, by Pastor Ralph Sandberg and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 25, 1958, by Pastor Oliver Berglund both at First Lutheran Church in Trimont, Minnesota. Bernie received his education at a country school in rural Trimont, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Trimont High School Class of 1961. He furthered his education by attending Minnesota West Community & Technical College in Jackson, Minnesota, receiving a degree in 1970. Bernie entered active military service in the United States Army on January 22, 1962, and served his country as a Private First Class. He received an Honorable Discharge on December 18, 1963.
On June 29, 1968, Bernie was united in marriage to Judith “Judy” Kay Ask by Pastor Jim Schatz at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Welcome, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Fairmont, Howard Lake and then in 1971 moved to Glencoe, Minnesota. Bernie and Judy’s marriage was blessed with two sons, Jeff and Alan. They shared over 47 years of marriage.
Bernie worked at 3M in Fairmont, Minnesota, in the late 1960’s. He held various positions at United Telephone System (Sprint) from 1970 until his retirement in 2000. He was a member at Christ Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota.
Bernie enjoyed spectator sports including all Minnesota teams and as a youth played football, basketball, baseball and ran track. He loved history, refinishing antique furniture and collecting coins. Bernie treasured the time spent with his family and friends.
Bernie passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Glencoe Regional Health Services in Glencoe, Minnesota, at the age of 73 years and 25 days.
