Bernice Dammann, age 95, of Plato, Minnesota, passed away Friday, July 16, 2021, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, July 23, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at Johnson – McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe, Minnesota with private interment at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Plato, Minnesota.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 23, 2021, 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., one hour prior to the service at the chapel on Friday.
Obituary
Bernice Helen Dammann was born on March 14, 1926, in Plato, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Albert W. and Christina (Buckentin) Dammann. Bernice was baptized as an infant on March 21, 1926 and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 17, 1940, both by Reverend Heinrich Bouman at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. Bernice’s confirmation verse was Romans 11:16 “For if the firstfruit is holy, the lump is also holy; and if the root is holy, so are the branches.” She received her education at Emanuel Lutheran School through the eighth grade, and was a graduate of the Glencoe High School.
Bernice worked on the family farm until the age of 24. She was then employed at Telex in Glencoe, retiring in November of 2001. Bernice was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg, Minnesota.
Bernice lived on the family farm in Helen Township, in 1979 she built her own home next to the family farm. She enjoyed working in her vegetable garden and growing fernleaf peonies that she would sell to Bachman’s. Bernice was also an avid seamstress. She loved to travel, flying to Florida with Edna and Edward and to Germany which she especially enjoyed.
When she needed assistance with her daily care, Bernice became a resident of Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord on February 27, 2020, and passed away there on Friday, July 16, 2021, at the age of 95 years. Blessed be her memory.
Bernice is survived by her: Relatives and friends.
Bernice was preceded in death by her Parents, Albert and Christina Dammann; Sister, Edna and Edward Stockman.
