Obituary
Betty Ann (Voigt) Latzke was born on September 26, 1941, in Green Isle, Minnesota, to Alford and Evelyn (Soeffker) Voigt. Betty was baptized as an infant on October 5, 1941, by Pastor Rottmann and later confirmed in her faith as a youth on June 12, 1955, by Pastor Maltokey, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Green Isle. Betty received her education in Arlington, Minnesota, and graduated from Arlington High School Class of 1959.
On October 27, 1962, Betty was united in marriage to Lyle Edwin Latzke at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, Minnesota, by Reverend Fellwock. The couple made their home in Glencoe in 1978. They were blessed with four children: Lori, Brenda, Jeffrey, and Paul. Betty and Lyle shared over 42 years of marriage when Lyle passed away on June 24, 2005.
Betty was a loving wife and mother. Betty worked as a housekeeper in the metro area for many years.
Betty had a big heart and a gift for making the people around her feel special, especially during the holidays. Christmas was her favorite time of year, and she loved baking for family and friends. She was known for her homemade breads and soups – especially her split pea soup – and had an incredible knack for cooking everything by heart without ever needing a recipe. Betty enjoyed spending weekends on the beach at Lake Marion when the kids were younger and watching them learn to waterski, and relaxing in her later years at their camper at Cozy Corners Campground in Eden Valley, Minnesota. She found joy in listening to country music, playing pull tabs, and collecting ceramic dolls and a vast collection of monkey stuffed animals and blankets. She enjoyed shopping for jewelry, purses, and shoes, and always kept her fingernails perfectly polished. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed crocheting afghans and washcloths, coloring pictures, doing word searches, and wrestling with puzzles. Above all, Betty deeply cherished the time she spent with her family, which meant the most to her.
Betty passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years, 6 months, and 20 days. Blessed be her memory.
