Bruce A. Johnson, age 71, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Monday, April 29, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson. Burial at Sea by the United States Navy.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
Military Honors by Hutchinson Memorial Rifle Squad.
Obituary
Bruce Alan Johnson was born March 17,1952, to Charles and Alma (Pofahl) Johnson. He was Baptized on March 17, 1952, and confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 15, 1966, at Grace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson, Minnesota. Bruce received his education in Hutchinson and was a graduate with the Hutchinson High School class of 1970.
After graduation, Bruce followed in his father's footsteps and enlisted in the United States Navy. He entered active duty on November 17,1970, serving on the USS Somers. The Navy allowed Bruce to travel the world being stationed at Naval bases in the Philippines, Japan, Antarctica and Hawaii. While in the Navy, Bruce married and this marriage was blessed with two daughters, Teresa and Alecia. He was honorably discharged on November 30, 1993, and achieved the rank of Senior Chief Petty Officer.
After retiring from the Navy, Bruce resided in the Seattle, Washington area. He loved watching football and was a big fan of the Seattle Seahawks. Bruce took pride in converting his great nephews and nieces to Seahawks fans as evidenced by the hats, jerseys, cups and other memorabilia he provided them with. He also enjoyed baseball and even though he was spending time away from Minnesota, Bruce remained a dedicated Twins fan. Another passion of Bruce’s was NASCAR Racing. Whenever there was a race you would find him glued to TV. Later in life, Bruce moved back to Minnesota to be near family and friends. He cherished and remained in contact with his friends from Washington State.
Bruce loved spending time with his dogs, DJ and Rambo, they were a very important part of his life. He especially cherished time spent with his nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Bruce was blessed with many good friends.
Bruce passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at Good Samaritan Society in Howard Lake, Minnesota, at the age of 71 years, just missing his 72nd birthday. Blessed be his memory.
Bruce is survived by his:
Daughters, Teresa and Alecia;
Mother, Alma Johnson of Hutchinson, MN;
Brother, Ronald Johnson and his wife, Jan of Hutchinson, MN;
Sister, Jeanette Bishman and her husband, Myron of Princeton, MN,
Sister, Julie Hanke and her husband, Mark of Hutchinson, MN;
Many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bruce was preceded in death by his Father, Charles Johnson; Grandparents, Delbert and Ruth Johnson, William and Victoria Pofahl.

I was a babysitter for the Johnson family when I was in high school, but lost track of them when I left Hutchinson after college. Bruce was a nice child in a nice family. May his family be blessed with many happy memories.
