Burton “Burt” A. Euerle, age 89, of Dassel, Minnesota, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2017, at his home in Dassel.
Funeral Service will be Friday, January 13, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. at Lamson Evangelical Free Church in Dassel with interment in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Obituary
Burton August Edward Euerle was born on August 16, 1927, in Woodbury Township, Washington County, Minnesota. He was the fourth child of Albert Euerle Sr. and Clara (Ramthun) Euerle. Burton was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth in 1943 at St. Matthew’s Church in Forest City, Minnesota. Burton moved at the age of three to their family farm in Watkins, Minnesota where he grew up. He attended school from first grade through the eighth grade in District 71 in Meeker County, at which time he quit school and stayed home to work.
Burton entered active military service in the United States Army on November 28, 1945 at Fort Snelling, Minnesota, and served his country during World War II. He received an Honorable Discharge on December 6, 1946, at Fort Sill, Oklahoma and achieved the rank of Private.
In 1953 Burton married Beulah Wendroth. They had three children, Donald, Dawn, and Esther.
On January 25, 1964, Burton was united in marriage to Ardys Christensen at Faith Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. This marriage was blessed with seven children, Cindy, Dean, Richard, David, Rhonda, Cheryl and Jeffrey. Burton and Ardys resided and made several moves around Litchfield, Hutchinson and Darwin areas. In 1991 they moved to Dassel. Burton and Ardys shared 52 years of marriage.
After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Burton returned home to help his dad on the farm until 1950 when he went to work in a shingle factory in the twin cities. He was employed as a Auto Mechanic for 30 years at various gas stations. Burton also worked at Anderson Crane in Litchfield as a painter for several years until he was forced into retirement in 1990 by an injury. Burton was a member of Lamson Evangelical Free Church and volunteered doing numerous things with his church.
Burton enjoyed gardening, watching TV, and playing with his grandchildren. He had a special place in his heart for his tiny Chihuahua’s Keesha and Benny. Burton especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Burton passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2017, at his home in Dassel, at the age of 89 years.
