Service Information
Carl Klaustermeier, age 87, of Lester Prairie, Minnesota, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the Garden House in Winsted, Minnesota.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, June 7, 2016, 11:00 A.M. at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, (while the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church sanctuary is undergoing renovations) with interment following at the St. Paul Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in Lester Prairie.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 6, 2016, from 4:00 -7:00 P.M. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 P.M. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Obituary
Carl Arnold Klaustermeier was born on March 22, 1929 in Bergen Township, McLeod County, Minnesota. He was the son of William and Bertha (Templin) Klaustermeier. Carl was baptized as an infant on April 7, 1929, by Rev. A. Spleiss and was later confirmed in his faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, by Rev. E.H. Stahlke both at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. He attended St. Paul’s Parochial School and was later drafted into the United States Army and entered active military service on November 8, 1954. Following basic training he was stationed in Germany for eighteen months. He earned the Army of Occupation Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Rifle Marksmanship Badge. He was honorably discharged at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, on October 24, 1956.
On August 29, 1965, Carl was united in marriage to Carol Jessen at Zion Lutheran Church in Hardwick, Minnesota. The couple made their home on the family farm in Lester Prairie. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Mary, David and Amy. Carl and Carol shared over 50 years of marriage.
Carl worked for the McLeod County Highway Department from 1965-1993. After his retirement from the county, he worked for Cominco American in Lester Prairie hauling fertilizer and chemicals. In 1995, he started driving bus for the Lester Prairie School District until 2005. He was a lifetime member at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Carl was also a member of the Lester Prairie American Legion Post #463.
Carl enjoyed reading the newspaper, doing farm work and taking Sunday drives. He also loved having coffee with friends. Carl cherished the time spent with his family and friends.
Carl passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 29, 2016, at the Garden House in Winsted, Minnesota, at the age of 87 years, 2 months and 7 days.

Sandi Schmidt and her husband, Warren, of Altenburg, MO,
Tom Jessen and his wife, Deb, of Madelia, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, Other relatives and many friends.
Carl is preceded in death by his Parents, William and Bertha Klaustermeier; Siblings, Lorna Schmidt and her husband, Ortwin, Walter Klaustermeier and his wife, Jean.

I just wanted to thank Carl for all his years of dedication to the veterans of Lester Prairie, with taking care of all those crosses on Memorial Day for so many years. There are very few good guys left that have that dedication. RIP Carl. Thank you for your service.
