Obituary
Carol Ann Johnson was born November 6, 1945, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the daughter of Layton and Eileen (Erickson) Johnson. She was baptized on December 2, 1945, at Swedlanda Lutheran Church in Palmyra Township, rural Hector, and confirmed in her faith there on May 17, 1959 by Pastor Gustav Ander. Carol’s faith was very important to her, even more so in later years. Carol Ann grew up in Palmyra Township, and attended school in Hector where she was very active and had many friends. She was crowned the Hector High School Homecoming Queen in 1962, and graduated on May 28, 1963. She continued her education at Miller Hospital, and in 1967 became a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Carol made her home in Minnetonka. From 1967 to 2007, she worked as a nurse in the Oncology and Surgical Departments of Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park. In 1991, following her studies at Normandale Community College, Carol became a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the MNA, Minnesota Nurses Association. After 40 years as a nurse, Carol retired from Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital. In 2013, she returned to her home area, and moved into Countryview Estates in Fairfax.
Carol enjoyed being active. She knitted sweaters, scarves, gloves, and many other items. Reading was one of her favorite pastimes along with going out for coffee. She loved to travel, and made many trips with family and friends, including an international trip to Germany, Norway, and Sweden. One of her favorite destinations was Green Lake in Spicer.
Carol's generosity knew no bounds, especially when it came to family and friends. She loved spending time with her nieces, Jessica and Jennifer, and her nephew, Jason, and attended many of their sporting events. Christmas Eve with her family was Carol's favorite holiday.
Early Friday morning, August 12, 2016, Carol passed away at the New Ulm Medical Center, having reached the age of 70 years. Blessed be her memory.
