Carol Fahey, age 88, of Norwood Young America, Minnesota, passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in Waconia, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 7, 2018, 11:00 A.M. at Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, with interment following at the church cemetery.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Thursday, September 6, 2018, from 5:00-8:00 P.M. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Norwood Young America, Minnesota, and will continue one hour prior the service at the church on Friday.
Obituary
Carol Jean (Lemke) Fahey was born on December 4, 1929, in Glencoe, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Herbert and Minnie (Weise) Lemke. Carol was baptized as an infant on December 15, 1929, by Rev. E. J. Becker and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on March 29, 1942, by Rev. H. J. Bunge both at Prairie Community Church (formerly Evangelical United Church of Christ) in Lester Prairie, Minnesota. She received her education in Lester Prairie, Minnesota, and graduated valedictorian with the Lester Prairie High School Class of 1947. Carol furthered her education by attending the Swedish Hospital School of Nursing in 1950.
On August 9, 1952, Carol was united in marriage to John A. Fahey at Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America, Minnesota. Carol and John made their home in Norwood Young America and Annandale on Lake John. In the spring of 2014, Carol moved to Westview Acres, Good Samaritan Center in Waconia, Minnesota, where she endeared herself to residents and staff alike with her bearded lizard, Oscar. Carol and John’s marriage was blessed with eight children, Michael, Jim, Anne, Tom, Tim, Mary, John and Dave. They shared over 36 years of marriage until John passed away on March 13, 1989. In 1995, Carol met Bob Schmidt who became a special friend and companion until Bob passed away in 2014.
In addition to being a loving wife, mother and homemaker, Carol worked as a nurse for Carver County. She was an active member of Church of the Ascension in Norwood Young America. Carol was also a member of the Edward Born American Legion Auxiliary Unit #343 and a charter member of the Young America VFW Auxiliary Post #1783.
Carol enjoyed golfing, playing cards and bingo, meat raffles and exercise classes. She especially loved to spoil her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol passed away on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in Waconia, Minnesota, at the age of 88 years, 8 months and 30 days.

My son, Matthew just came home from working at Westview Acres. He told me another friend of his passed away, and her name was Carol. I wanted to pass on our condolences. Carol was a dear, sweet soul. Matthew enjoyed his encounter with her on this Earthly journey. She will be greatly missed. We are so very sorry for your loss.
