So sorry for our loss of Carol! Carol was my cousin, but just enough older that I thought of her more like my aunt. She actually babysat me in Minneapolis for my parents Marv and Elaine Kottke, who were living there while my Dad went to school at U of Minn. She also was my sponsor at my baptism…. Over the years Carol and I would email the usual times, holidays , birthdays etc. but we also ventured into some family history that was always special to me. I loved Carol and was grateful for her maintaining my family connection with Minnesota relatives. Unfortunately I let my mother do all of that while she was alive and suddenly felt lost because she was no longer giving me all the Glencoe new etc. Yes I already am missing Carol, still waiting for a reply to my last email….. I too will miss the e-mails & couple of phone calls from my cousin Carol. I see that Cindy wrote that Carol was her baptismal sponsor, well she was also mine! Henceforth the name Susan Carol. She never missed my birthday with homemade dolls & teddy bears. Linda would cut the yarn hair off sometimes (taking after Mom’s beautician skills!!)
Carol & Gene had hunting land in the twsp next to ours for years & I didn’t know that until 10yrs ago.
I will miss you Carol and all the history of the Kottke family you shared with us all. Sending prayers, Susan Kottke Austad
