Service Information

Carole K. Polzin, age 87, of Gaylord passed away Sunday, April 5, 2026, at Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota.

Memorial Service will be Friday, April 10, 2026, 11:00 A.M. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in High Island Cemetery in New Auburn.

Gathering of Family and Friends will be Friday, April 10, 2026, from 9:30 A.M.-11:00 A.M., ALL at the church.

Obituary

Carole Kay Polzin was born on November 17, 1938, in Waterloo, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harland and Marjorie (Riddlesbarger) Fehr. Carole was baptized as an infant in Waterloo, and was later confirmed in her faith in New Auburn, Minnesota. She received her education at Glencoe High School. Carole furthered her education in Mankato and received her LPN degree and continued at Normandale College, receiving her RN degree.

On August 20, 1955, Carole was united in marriage to Lawrence Polzin at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Auburn. After their marriage, the couple resided in Gaylord. Carole waitressed and worked at Green Giant during corn pack. After receiving her nursing degree, Carole worked at the Gaylord Hospital and the Hutchinson Hospital. She retired from nursing in 2000. Carole and Lawrence were blessed with four children, Ron, Jeff, Barb, and Jim. They shared 62 years of marriage when Lawrence passed away on February 14, 2018.

Carole was a member of American Lutheran Church in Gaylord. In her younger years, she was involved in Girl Scouts with her daughter, Barb.

Carol loved wintering on South Padre Island and stayed in the same hotel and room for 20 years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and cards, doing puzzles, was an avid reader, and loved to travel. She traveled to all the 50 states, most of the Canadian Providences, many Caribbean Islands, and Mexico. In her younger years, she played accordion in an accordion band and participated in parades. She loved spending time with her family and friends.

Jim Polzin and his wife, Mona of Arlington, MN;
8 Grandchildren, Jessicah Polzin and her significant other, Al Lyons, Brandon Polzin, Danielle (Jamie) Havemeier, Tyler Polzin, Susan (Jeremy) Noyes, Brian Kamps, Katie (Casey) Boone, Kelli (Andrew) Praxl;
11 Great-Grandchildren, Charlie, Mackenzie, Abigail, Alex, Desmond, Tanner, Jack, Cheyenne, Jordan, Dylan, Collin;
Sisters-in-law and Brothers-in-law, Kathy Fehr of Spicer, MN, Eleanor (Donald) Marth of Gaylord, MN, and Robert (Naomi) Polzin of Hutchinson, MN;
Nieces, Nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carole was preceded in death by her Parents, Harland and Marjorie Fehr; Husband, Lawrence Polzin; Daughter, Barb Polzin; Brother, Jim Fehr; Brothers-in-law and Sisters-in-law.

    I worked with Carole in Hutchinson . She was a great RN and always so kind and professional with her patients.

    So saddened to hear of Carole’s passing. We have been SPI Winter Texan friends for twenty years. We will miss her energy, generosity, and caring ways. Sand Rose will not be the same without her. Our deepest sympathies to her loved ones.

    I enjoyed talking to Carol, especially when we played cards with the group at the HGI. Such a pleasant and down to earth lady.
    Will miss her…..
