Obituary
Carolyn Kathleen Robbins was born on March 28, 1944, in Brookings, South Dakota. She was the middle daughter of Lloyd and Elmira (Prahl) Johnson. Carolyn was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Argo Lutheran Church in rural White, South Dakota. She received her elementary education in a one-room country school house near White, South Dakota. She attended White High School, where she met David. They both graduated in 1962 and continued on to South Dakota State College together.
On June 6, 1964, Carolyn was united in marriage to David Robbins at Zion Lutheran Church in White, South Dakota. They were happily married for 60 years. They fully enjoyed each other’s presence, and loved to spend their time together.
After their college graduation, the couple resided in Texas and Alaska, and various towns in Minnesota before settling in Gaylord, Minnesota, where they have resided for the past 44 years. During that time, Carolyn was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, and served the church in many capacities as a member of the choir, a Sunday school instructor, and member of the ladies guild. Carolyn also enjoyed teaching piano and organ. She learned to play pump organ while growing up and served the church as an organist for more than 50 years.
Carolyn was a force to be reckoned with, with a fierce sense of humor, a commanding presence, and an unwavering love for her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren on bike rides to the park and playing tennis with them. She was always quick to wrap them in a hug and stamp a kiss on their cheeks.
Throughout her life, Carolyn’s faith in her Lord Jesus Christ sustained her. While her health faltered, her faith remained consistent and strong.
Carolyn passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2024, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 80 years. Blessed be her memory.

Mark & Martha Santelman says
When we moved to Winthrop 20+ years ago we immediately joined Zion Lutheran in Winthrop and two of the first people we met were Dave & Carolyn Robbins…and we treasured them dearly along with the 500 other legendary members of Zion Lutheran. Both Dave & Carolyn are two of the kindest people we ever had the privilege to know this side of heaven. We look forward to our reunion in heaven.
Blessed be her memory.
Mary Ann (McKibben) Witter says
Carolyn was my first friend. We had many good times on the farm, at church and in high school. She will be missed.
Laurine Jannusch says
Dave and Carolyn were members of the congregation at Smiths Mill MN. when my husband was pastor there. They were very active in the church and became dear friends. Carolyn’s last years were full of health challenges, but she maintained her signature sense of humor and brightened her surroundings with her strong faith in our Lord. Laurine Jannusch
Marv and Donna Sluiter says
A lovely lady with a wonderful personality and unwavering faith in our LORD. She was a fashionable dresser and always looked much younger than her age. I was blessed to get to know her through Bible Study Fellowship.
Tiffany, Dave, and family you have our sympathy!
