Catherine V. Grimm

Obituary

Catherine Grimm was born to Alfred and Margaret (Zaske) Moore on March 29, 1921. She was baptized in infancy and confirmed her faith at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hector, Minnesota. Catherine attended public school in Renville County, and graduated from Hector High School in 1940. She worked in the Hector Construction Company office, and in Brainerd and Minneapolis as a bookkeeper.

On October 14, 1950 Catherine was united in marriage to Lowell O. Grimm. They raised three children and farmed in Brookfield Township. They retired from farming in 1987, and moved to Hector. They had shared 53 years of marriage when Lowell died in 2004. Catherine continued to live in their home in Hector, and spent the last five years living at Fairview Place senior apartments in Olivia. She moved to Prairie View of Hector on November 30^th of this year.

Catherine was an active member of her church, St. John Lutheran in Osceola Township, until its closing in 2008. She transferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township. Catherine enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning, and was an avid reader, especially enjoying author Danielle Steele. She was a good cook! Catherine and Lowell “Curly” enjoyed dancing and followed the band “The Wagoneers.”  She especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On December 29, 2016, Catherine passed away at Prairie View of Hector, having reached the age of 95 years.

Cindy (Don) Lietzau of Chugiak, Alaska,
Jody Toren of Olivia, Minnesota, and
Bill (Shelly) Grimm of Hector, Minnesota;

Grandchildren: Travis (Jamie) Lietzau of Green River, Wyoming, Sara (Cody) Parker of Juneau, Alaska, Rachel Toren (fiancé Greg Hastings) of Jamestown, North Dakota, Nathan Toren of Bird Island, Minnesota, Sondra Grimm of Glencoe, Minnesota, Tiffany (Garrett) Grimm-Egge of Shakopee, Minnesota, and Belinda Grimm of Shakopee, Minnesota;

Great-Grandchildren: Heidi, Aelana, and Natalie Lietzau, and Caitlin and Payton Parker;

nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Richard Precht, and her husband Lowell.
