Service Information
Charles “Chuck” Nisse, age 78, of Hutchinson, Minnesota, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024, 11:00 A.M., at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township, Minnesota, with interment in the church cemetery at a later date.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
Obituary
Charles “Chuck” Louis Nisse was born on March 27, 1946, in Hutchinson, Minnesota. He was the son of Vernon and Helen (Luedtke) Nisse. Chuck was baptized as an infant on April 28, 1946, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on May 22, 1960, both at Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson. He received his education in Hutchinson, and was a graduate of the Hutchinson High School Class of 1964. Chuck furthered his education at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Business Administration with Distinction.
Chuck was accepted for post graduate study in agricultural economics to the University of California, Berkeley, and the University of Chicago, but chose to enlist in the United States Army entering active duty on June 20, 1968, and served in Vietnam. He received an Honorable Discharge on March 19, 1970, at Fort Lewis, Washington, having achieved the rank of Sargeant.
After returning home, he began farming with his father on the family farm north of Hutchinson. He continued to farm into the late 1990s. He then went to work at HTI, before moving to 3M, where he stayed until retirement.
On December 4, 1971, Chuck was united in marriage to Jean Wendorff at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with three sons, Michael, Mark and John. Chuck and Jean made their home on the farm in rural Hutchinson, sharing 52 years of marriage until Jean passed away on January 23, 2024.
Chuck was always a farmer at heart. He felt a deep connection with the land and always enjoyed talking about farming, crops and the weather. Chuck was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Acoma Township, holding various office and committee positions. He enjoyed running, biking, reading, gardening, and watching various Minnesota sports teams with Jean. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and many beloved dogs throughout the years.
Chuck passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at his home in rural Hutchinson, at the age of 78 years.

Keith Wendorff (Stacy) of Grant, MN,
Carla Saunders (Dan) of Plymouth, MN;
Many great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Chuck is preceded in death by his Parents, Vernon and Helen Nisse; Wife, Jean Nisse; Parents-in-law, Edward and Dolores Wendorff.

Chuck was a lifelong friend of mine, since grade school. I will miss him, our lunches and dinners with him and his wife Jean and our yearly recap at Christmas. My condolences are with his sons and their families.
