Christa E. Curtis-Wittmier, age 43, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at her sister’s home in Hutchinson, Minnesota.
Obituary
Christa Erin Curtis-Wittmier was born on December 21, 1975, in Spokane, Washington. She was the daughter of Gary Curtis and Melanie Wittmier. She received her education in Tacoma, Washington and was a graduate of the Wilson High School Class of 1994. She continued her education in Steilacoom, Washington at Pierce College receiving her Associate’s Degree.
Christa entered active military service on December 22, 1994, served her country in the United States Navy. She achieved the rank of IT1. Christa received the Joint Service Commendation Medal; Joint Service Achievement Medal (4); Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3); Joint Meritorious Unit Award (2); Meritorious Unit Commendation; Navy “E” Ribbon; and the Good Conduct Medal (3). Christa was Honorably Discharged on January 23, 2006.
Christa was employed as a widely known DJ known as “supercw” in Honolulu, Hawaii. In her spare time, she was also a blogger and weekly columnist. Most recently, she was employed at Young’s Market as a Marketing Director.
Christa enjoyed spending her time as the co-founder of Aloha Cancer Project in Honolulu, an organization dedicated to helping others deal with cancer by facing it with aloha. She was a founding director for the POW! WOW!, Hawaii art festival and the creator of many popular signature events on Oahu. Christa also enjoyed networking and volunteering with various projects, organizations and relationships. She loved traveling the world to places such as New Zealand, South Korea and Turkey. Italy, California and England were some of the places she lived. She especially loved to host yearly birthday galas for the enjoyment of her friends and community. She was all about making the most out of the days that you still have in front of you.
Christa passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 3, 2019, after a three and a half year battle with cancer, at her sister’s home in Hutchinson, at the age of 43 years.
