Service Information
Cornelius “Cornie” Yock, age 88, of Gaylord passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 11, 2015, at his daughter’s home in Gaylord.
Funeral Service will be Monday, November 16th, 10:30 A.M. at American Lutheran Church in Gaylord with interment in the Zion Methodist Cemetery in Danube, Minnesota.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 15th, from 4:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at the Egesdal Funeral Home in Gaylord. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
Military Honors by the Manthey-Asmus American Legion Post #433.
Obituary
Cornelius “Cornie” William Yock was born on November 20, 1926, in Raymond, Minnesota. He was the son of Carl and Margaret (Aalderks) Yock. Cornie was baptized on February 6, 1927, at St. John’s Evangelical Church in Raymond, Minnesota, and was confirmed in his faith on March 17, 1940. He attended grade school in Raymond and Clara City and graduated from Danube High School in 1944.
Cornie entered the United States Navy on February 19, 1945, and served his country in both the Korean War and World War II. He received the American Theater Medal, the Victory Medal, the Korean Service Medal and the United Nations Medal. Cornie was Honorably Discharged on August 1, 1954.
Cornie was united in marriage to Marilyn Fischer in Danube. After their marriage the couple resided in Danube, Buffalo Lake, and Gaylord. Cornie was a Claims Processor for the Ford Motor Company, he owned and operated the Gaylord Ford dealership from 1976-1979, and was a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 22 years, until his retirement on December 31, 1999. Cornie and Marilyn shared 40 years of marriage and were blessed with four children.
Cornie enjoyed going to car shows, swap meets, flea markets, auctions, and Islander baseball games with “his boys”, Tyler and Jackson. He had a passion for cars and was proud of the many antique and collectible cars he had owned over the years. He enjoyed fishing and always looked forward to his fishing trips to Canada with his fishing buddies. He loved his coffee. He had a special relationship with the Prairie House restaurant and will be greatly missed by the staff and all of the “coffee guys” who were his very good friends.
Cornie passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Gaylord on Wednesday November 11, 2015, at the age of 88 years. Blessed be his memory.

children, Brian Yock (Marilyn) of Sioux Falls, SD,
Lynette (Scott) Erickson of St. Cloud, MN,
Jeffrey Yock of Mankato, MN, and
Michelle (Randy) Reid of Gaylord, MN;
grandchildren, Katelyn, Tyler, and Jackson Reid, Andy and Amanda Yock, and Brandon Reid;
his “Arizona son”, Mike “Jake” Jacobs and his wife Betsie of Glendale, AZ;
siblings, Erna Rohs of St. Cloud, MN, Henrietta “Hank” Helgeson of Redwood Falls, MN, Annabelle (Don) DeBlauw of Punta Gorda, FL, and Carol (Lyle) Jahnke of Olivia, MN;
nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Cornie was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Margaret Yock; infant brother, Carl Yock; wife of 40 years, Marilyn Yock; sister and brother-in-law, Bess and Selmer Gort; brothers-in-law, Eldon Rohs and LeRoy “Vic” Helgeson.
