Service Information
Dale Kulberg, age 68, of Cosmos, passed away Friday, October 5, 2018, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, October 12, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township, rural Hector, with interment at a later date in the Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 11, 2018, from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Hughes-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hector, and will continue on Friday for one hour prior to the service at Church.
Military Honors will be provided by the Beack-Thompson American Legion Post 125.
Memorials are preferred.
Obituary
Dale Lee Kulberg was born on August 30, 1950 in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Duane and Oradel (Paul) Kulberg. Dale was baptized as an infant and later confirmed in his faith at Osceola Church of Hope in rural Hector. He attended Hector High School, graduating with the class of 1968. Dale served in the United States Navy from December 18, 1969 through October 1, 1973, during the Vietnam War and upon his completion of service was honorably discharged.
Dale was united in marriage to Diane Hagstrom on January 22, 1972 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Brookfield Township. This union was blessed with three daughters: Brenda, Anita, and Amy. They shared 46 years of marriage.
Upon returning from the Navy, Dale farmed in the Osceola Township. In 1974, he and Diane bought a farm in the Brookfield Township where he farmed until retiring in 2013. In 1987, Dale and his brother Lyle co-owned Kulberg Foods in Buffalo Lake. Dale sold DEKALB seed for a number of years. After retirement, Dale and Diane purchased a home on Sullivan Lake near Pierz, MN. He served on the Brookfield Township Board for 30 years and was a trusted leader and held several positions on the church council. Dale was active with the 4-H Club where he coached softball. He enjoyed fishing, caring for a large vegetable garden, reading, putting together puzzles and making people laugh with his witty one-liners. He loved spending time with family, especially visits from the grandchildren.
On the evening of Friday, October 5, 2018, Dale passed away at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar from complications of COPD, having reached the age of 68 years. Blessed be his memory.

Daughters: Brenda (Larry) Willhite of Buffalo Lake and their children, Austin and Cody;
Anita (Glen) Pettis of Hector and their children, Tanner and Dylan Edwards, Makayla Pettis, and Amanda Scheurer;
Amy (Tom) Bakker of Renville, and their children Tyler, Jason, and Alexis;
Siblings: Keith Kulberg of Missouri; Lorri (Dell) Kempton of Arizona; Lyle Kulberg of Bird Island; Beth (Pat) Duyck of Arizona;
Brother-in-law: Dennis (Marlys) Hagstrom of Hector;
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Duane and Oradel Kulberg, parents-in-law, and by many aunts and uncles.
