Obituary
Daniel Herbert Kalenberg was born September 4, 1958, in Hutchinson, Minnesota, the son of Herbert and Ruth (Helmer) Kalenberg. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Stewart, Minnesota. Dan, as he was known throughout his life, grew up in Preston Lake Township in Renville County. He received his education in Stewart, and graduated from the Stewart High School.
On September 12, 1987, Dan was united in marriage to Lynn Forcier at St. Boniface Catholic Church. They made their home in Stewart until moving north of Hector, Minnesota, and settling in Hector Township. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Andy and Jessie. Dan and Lynn shared 31 years of marriage.
Dan worked at various manufacturing jobs. He was employed with Hutchinson Technology, Inc. for 28 years, and then with BIC in Sleepy Eye, Minnesota. His last employment was with Suttle in Hector. He was a current member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hector, having transferred his membership from St. Boniface in Stewart.
Dan loved the outdoors, especially when he was camping, grilling, gardening, or mowing the lawn. He liked to go asparagus hunting, and enjoyed sharing the asparagus with neighbors, friends, and family; Dan was a selfless man who others could count on and trust. He also loved spending time outside feeding the animals, and enjoyed his time with his cats and dogs. He loved his pets. Dan and Lynn cherished their vacations together whether it was an out-of-state vacation or a camping trip fifteen minutes away at the home farm. It didn’t matter where, as long as he was surrounded by friends and family. He enjoyed socializing and had fun playing cards and bean bags. Dan truly loved his family, and was overjoyed with his precious granddaughter, Kora.
Dan has been battling brain cancer for nearly two years with having a recent, rare reoccurrence in the spinal cord. He was lovingly cared for by his family at home. Dan passed away there in the early morning hours of Wednesday, April 10, 2019, having reached the age of 60 years. Blessed be his memory.

Denise Douglas says
I want to extend to you and your family my deepest sympathy. It is difficult to watch our dear loved ones suffer and die; but soon that will be gone forever. God has promised us that he is going to wipe out all suffering, sickness, and death forever. We find that promise at Revelation 21:4. Along with that hope is the expectation of John 5:28, 29; there we see how those we have lost in death will be resurrected to life, here on earth. I do hope you find comfort in this as I, and many others have.
