Darlene Ulrich, age 77, of Hamburg, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, Minnesota.
Memorial Service will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church in Benton Township, Cologne, Minnesota.
Gathering of Family & Friends will be held Saturday, January 12, 2019, from 9:00-11:00 A.M., 2 hours prior the service at the church.
Obituary
Darlene Nancy (Raetz) Ulrich was born on March 30, 1941, in Waseca, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Franklin Albert and Selma Martha (Steve) Raetz. Darlene was baptized as an infant on May 4, 1941, by Pastor Ivar Ramseth at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca, Minnesota, and later was confirmed in her faith as a youth on April 3, 1955, by Pastor Martin Ackermann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden, Minnesota. Her confirmation verse was Luke 10:42. Darlene received her education in Owatonna, Minnesota, graduating with the Owatonna High School Class of 1959. She furthered her education in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
On September 12, 1964, Darlene was united in marriage to Benjamin Robert Ulrich by Pastor Bernhardt Polesky at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meriden, Minnesota. They made their home in Hamburg, Minnesota. Darlene and Benjamin’s life was blessed with three children, Curtis, Melinda and Jeffrey. Darlene and Benjamin shared over 37 years of marriage until Benjamin passed away on May 1, 2002.
Darlene worked in various hospitals as a laboratory and x-ray technician for 10 years. She also was a displayer with Home Interiors & Gifts for 26 years. Darlene was a previous member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waconia and then in 2010 became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Cologne. She taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, was a member of the LWML/Ladies Aid, Seniors for Christ and loved helping at funerals.
Darlene enjoyed having cats and dogs as her pets. She loved to knit, crochet and play cards at Auburn West because she loved being around older people. Darlene also collected teddy bears and Precious Moments. She treasured the time spent with family and friends.
Darlene passed away on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Oak Terrace Health Care Center in Gaylord, Minnesota, at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 3 days.

Son-In-Law, Lawrence Wright of Minneapolis, MN;

Brother, James Raetz and his wife, Shirley, of Waseca, MN;
Many other relatives and friends.
Darlene is preceded in death by her Parents, Franklin and Selma Raetz; Husband, Benjamin Ulrich; Daughter, Melinda Wright; Brother, Gerald Raetz; Sister, Carol Raetz; Sister-In-Law, Linda (Kiekenapp) Raetz.

I’m so sorry to read this. I worked with Darlene as a sister Displayer of Home interiors and Gifts for 15 years, and always enjoyed her upbeat attitude and zest for life. She was a hard worker and always strived to do her best in our field of designing. May she continue to decorate a lovely place for Ben and herself in heaven.
