Darvin Dale Zieman

Obituary

Darvin Dale Zieman was born on September 14, 1938, in Hutchinson, Minnesota.  He was the son of Martin and Mabel (Kottke) Zieman.  Darvin was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in his faith in his youth at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Stewart, Minnesota.  He received his education in Stewart, Minnesota.

On July 15, 1961, Darvin was united in marriage to Carol Ann Malchow at St. Anastasia Catholic Church Library in Hutchinson.  This marriage was blessed with three children, Dale, Debra, and Rick.  Darvin and Carol resided in Hutchinson. They shared 55 years of marriage.

Darvin held employment as an Outside Plant Employee for the Hutchinson Telephone Company in Hutchison for 38 years.   He retired in 2003.  Darvin was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Hutchinson.  He was also a member of the McLeod County Fairboard for 42 years, a volunteer member of the Hutchinson Fire Department for 23 years, a lifetime member of the Gopher Campfire Club in Hutchinson and a life time member of the Harley Owners Group. 

Darvin loved being outdoors and took pride in their “Sunny Acres Game Farm” in rural Hutchinson, where he raised deer and game birds and farmed for years.  He also took time out to enjoy his hunting, fishing, camping, and bowling trips.  Darvin also enjoyed playing cards, motorcycling and classic cars.  He was a member of the Saturday Night Cruisers and Gas Holes Car Clubs.    He especially enjoyed the time he spent with his wife, children, grandchildren and great granddaughter.

Darvin passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Glencoe Regional Health Hospital, at the age of 77 years.

He will be dearly missed.

Darvin is preceded in death by his Father, Martin Zieman; Mother, Mabel Zieman; Brother, Gary Zieman.
