David R. Benson

Obituary

David R. Benson was born on January 4, 1959, in Glencoe, Minnesota. He was the son of Richard and Rosella (Streich) Benson. David was baptized as an infant on January 25th 1959, and later confirmed in his faith as a youth on June 10th 1973. He received his education in Stewart, Minnesota, and was a graduate of the Stewart High School Class of 1977. David furthered his education at Hutchinson Vocational Technical College in Hutchinson, Minnesota, graduating from the Diesel Mechanic program.

On July 7, 1984, David was united in marriage to Diane Bicknase at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fairmont, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with one son, Nathan. David and Diane made their home in Collins Township, rural Stewart, Minnesota. David and Diane built their life around working on the dairy farm. They shared 41 years of marriage until Diane passed away on March 7, 2026.

David was employed at Hutch Equipment, in Hutchinson, after graduating. He then started his own shop, repairing equipment for neighbors and the family farm. David began working on the farm full time, working on repairs, and with livestock. David was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, Minnesota. He was also a member of the choir at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

David enjoyed understanding the inner workings of equipment, tinkering and improving things, and helping others. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family, grandchildren and friends.

David passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 at his home in Collins Township, rural Stewart, at the age of 67 years.

David is preceded in death by his Parents, Richard and Rosella Benson; Wife, Diane Benson; Brother-in-law, Rick Leiviska Sr.
