Deanna K. Nelson, age 73, of Buffalo Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake.
Gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020, from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the Dobratz-Hantge Funeral Chapel in Hutchinson.
Obituary
Deanna Kay (Ruschmeyer) Nelson was born on December 5, 1946, at Hutchinson Hospital, daughter of Vernon & Lucille (Buehler) Ruschmeyer. Deanna was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Buffalo Lake by Pastor Appel on December 29, 1946, and confirmed on April 10, 1960, by Pastor Leo Widdel. Deanna grew up on the family farm near Lakeside in Boon Lake Township. She attended Buffalo Lake Public School and graduated in 1964.
After graduation, she worked as a secretary for Arnold Beneke Law Office in Hutchinson, Minnesota. She later worked for 3M Company in St. Paul before transferring to 3M in Hutchinson. It was at 3M in Hutchinson that she met Gary W. Nelson. They were married on December 26, 1970. When Gary's health begin to fail they sold their farm site northeast of Hutchinson and moved to St. Augustine, Florida around 1989 to be near Gary's son, Scott, and daughter, Lisa. After moving to Florida Deanna worked as a realtor, at World Golf Village for a few years in the office and volunteered at the Historical Society & Library. Gary passed away on January 31, 1995, and is interred in St. Augustine Memorial Cemetery, St. Augustine, Florida.
Deanna loved to travel and experience new things. She enjoyed a trip to Europe in 1968 and going on cruises. Deanna was active in the Red Hat Society. She was so outgoing and always was doing something with friends. Her smile and personality will be greatly missed.
Deanna passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Buffalo Lake Healthcare Center in Buffalo Lake, at the age of 73 years. Blessed be her memory.

Step Great-Grandchildren, Connor Evans, Carter and Hayden Evans, Ethan, Aubrey and Sophie Evans, Wyatt and Kinsey Nelson, Josh Hurley;
Sister, Sandra Housman and her husband, Larry;
Niece, Michelle Duce and her husband, Brian, and their children, Dayne, Blair and Dalton
Nephew Eric Housman;
Uncle, Joseph Whitney.
Deanna was preceded in death by her Parents, Vernon and Lucille Ruschmeyer; Husband, Gary Nelson; Sisters, Marlene and Lavonne Ruschmeyer; Grandparents, Henry and Elsie (Stark) Ruschmeyer and Samuel & Anna (Villnow) Buehler; Aunts and Uncles, Deloris & Ernest (Slim Jim) Iverson, Ariel Whitney, Annabelle & George Huglin, Roger and Helen Pietig, Kenneth &Lorrain Buehler, Willard and Florence Jenkins.

Deanna’s picture is how I remember her, a sparkle in her eyes and a smile on her face. It has been many years since we worked together at 3M but can recall so many memories of her looking just like that. Condolences to her family.
