Obituary
DeLayne Dee Dahl was born in Madison, MN, on July 30, 1953, to Duane D. Dahl and Betty M. Dahl.
DeLayne was baptized at the Madison hospital. She was confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. DeeDee received her education at Milan, Madison, and Dawson public schools. She also attended a special school in Worthington, MN.
DeeDee lived in Canby, MN before moving to Willmar, where she enjoyed working as a housekeeper. Later she moved to Dawson and enjoyed working as a waitress and dishwasher, besides helping at the local Thrift Shop. She then moved to Hutchinson, MN, where she loved the staff and working for Adult Training and Habilitation Center (ATHC).
In September, 2024, DeeDee moved to Harmony River Living Center, Hutchinson, MN, where her only job was to touch every heart she met.
As a child, DeeDee enjoyed playing with friends, flying kites, swimming, school and being a fun-loving little girl. As she grew older, she loved Jesus, bowling, Special Olympics, playing cards, Bingo, crafts, traveling – especially flying – coffee, apple pie ala mode, horseback riding, baking, helicopters, airplanes, limousines, beer, boating, dancing, eating out, shopping, music & concerts, staying overnight with two of her favorite sisters, camping, motorcycle riding with two of her brothers, shooting her 22 pistol, babies, lefse, and milk mush. It was very, very important to her to do all these things with her family. We always told her, “I love you,” and blew kisses, to which she would always respond, “I love you more”.
If you ever heard DeeDee say “Hubba, Hubba”, it meant she just saw a cute young man!! Her favorite being her brother-in-law, Leonard, and Kenny Chesney (not necessarily in that order)!
DeeDee passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at Harmony River Living Center in Hutchinson at the age of 71 years. Her memory lives on in the hearts of many. She will be remembered as being deeply devoted to her family and friends.
DeeDee is survived by her brothers and sisters Tom (Gwen), Vicki (Leonard), Bruce, Julie and Tim (Brian), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Her brother Doug passed away on Monday, January 20, 2025 at his home in Watertown SD.
She was preceded in death by her father Duane Dahl, mother Betty (Dahl) Nelson, step-father Tillman Nelson, sister Bonnie Dahl, and grandparents Nels & Nelsine Rasmussen, and Oscar & Fern Dahl.
Please join the family for a meal and memories after the Celebration of Life service.

Deedee was a very special sister in law, such carsmatic woman. We had a few fun years taking her Christmas shopping in Dawson, and the “3angels” always got a Christmas ornament to commemorate our outing. Of course that included pie at the local cafe. I love you Deedee. Am so glad for the many memories and may you rest in peace. I love you ?
